Amazing story.

What an amazing story. Because I really enjoyed The Winter Sea I couldn't wait to listen to The Rose Garden and I wasn't disappointed. The story moves back and forth through time and as with The Winter Sea this proves to keep the listener intrigued and wanting more. I guess my only negative comment was that at times the narrator needed to take great gulps of air - but this was only a very minor issue. I highly recommend this book.

Beautiful Oldfashioned Romance

This story intertwines past and present so beautifully. The story of Eva and Daniel is so wonderfully described it was so hard to put it down. I felt drawn into the story from beginning to end. It was refreshing to listen to a book that was more romantic than sexual. It lets you draw your own conclusions in the bedroom.

My only complaint was that I didn't want it to end. I would recommend this book.

The narrator was great too.

Lovely way to spent some hours

I love Gabaldon's Outlander series, but I must say that I love Kearsley's universe as well. There were some moments towards the end of this book where the hairs on my arms stood up. It might be overly romantic but it worked for me. This is not great world literature but a truly wonderful book to listen to. Well worth the time.

Listen to this story... you won't be disappointed

Why in the world would someone expect another really good writer in their own style to set out to produce a story "JUST LIKE" Outlander. Just because it involves traveling back in time doesn't mean it has to be compared. Why not just enjoy it for what it is. A good story, well worth the listen.

I will say as a matter of small complaint, that the narrator was a little "meek" for what I thought Eva might really be like but just the fact that I was thinking about that, means that the author did her part in building the character/s for me. I feel like I know Trelowarth.

I do wish the story had been longer and I suppose that too is a compliment to the writer. I think there is room for another story and do hope that Ms. Kearsley will have a care for those of us that truly loved the story and tell us more.

One of the best reads of the year

The story and the performance was soo good! I loved the events from a woman's view. I told my wife that if she like "The 6th Sense" and "A Beautiful Mind" then she would love this book as nothing is as it seems right from the very beginning.

Audible's Mistake

The Rose Garden is a romance. It is a romance involving time travel. In my opinion it was never meant to be an epic historical fiction like the Outlander. So, when Audible recommended The Rose Garden for readers who loved Outlander, many were lead astray. If you are looking for a light romantic read, this book is sweet and enjoyable.

Just okay

Mildly entertaining, but definitely no Outlander. The story was okay, but there just wasn't enough depth and character development to really get into this one. And certainly nothing new in the time travel genre.

Good Enough for a credit, but better on sale

This book started out a little slow and boring. However, as the story progressed it did get better. Like many other reviewers I didn't much care for the narration either (just a personal preference).
If you like time-travel romance novels then you will enjoy this one. It's not as good as Outlander, but it's still an enjoyable listen.
It's worth a credit, but it's even better on sale.

Loved it!

I really enjoyed this romantic tale that takes you back and forth through two distinct times.
I fell in love with Diane Gabaldon books and while this isn't as detailed in history as her books are this is a nice alternative. I would recommend it to everyone who likes to travel back in time.

Please don't expect an OUTLANDER experience.

While I won't say this is a bad book, it is by no means in the same league with the depth of characters and historical detail of Outlander. The narrator is more 'reader" than "performer".
