Publisher's summary

Ryder is the hardest Montgomery brother to figure out - with a tough-as-nails outside and possibly nothing too soft underneath. He’s surly and unsociable, but when he straps on a tool belt, no woman can resist his sexy swagger. Except, apparently, Hope Beaumont, the innkeeper of his own Inn BoonsBoro....

As the former manager of a D.C. hotel, Hope is used to excitement and glamour, but that doesn’t mean she can’t appreciate the joys of small-town living. She’s where she wants to be - except for in her love life. Her only interaction with the opposite sex has been sparring with the infuriating Ryder, who always seems to get under her skin. Still, no one can deny the electricity that crackles between them…a spark that ignited with a New Year’s Eve kiss.

While the inn is running smoothly, thanks to Hope’s experience and unerring instincts, her big-city past is about to make an unwelcome - and embarrassing - appearance. Seeing Hope vulnerable stirs up Ryder’s emotions and makes him realize that while Hope may not be perfect, she just might be perfect for him…

So much!

I don't think I've laughed or cried so much when reading a set of novels as in these 3 Inn BoonsBoro set. I've gone from shivers up the spine and goose bumps when Lizzy makes an appearance to crying then laughing all within a short span. These stories along with Nora Roberts others set around Antietam have all been glorious.

Almost perfect

I read the first two in the trilogy so this was a good conclusion. The narration was rough. Curse words were too numerous and messed it up for me.

Typical Nora

Handsome rich man with no body fat falls for a lovely women and they all live happily ever after. Fluff listen, no thought involved but liked the narrator.

Brilliant Characters

I love the interaction of the characters. They have such unique different personalities, there is something enduring in all of. The way scenes play out a very real, the way brothers would act to each other, the way 2 people who are trying not to like each other bite and snear, but laced with humor. I found myself smiling many times during this book. I read it in paperback, and now when I working I pop in some head phones and listen and smile.

Recommended

An excellent ending to the series. I would say this was my favorite but I think it is more that this trilogy is a favorite overall. The historical backdrop and paranormal elements all added to the story.

This trilogy goes well with another favorite, The MacKades. I wistfully wish there had been at least a little tie-in between the two.

I haven't read much of Nora Roberts new stories over the past several years. I can see some of her style, at least for this genre, has changed somewhat. The story progression, choice of word and structure. Here, at least it seemed more formal and studied.

Best of the trilogy

The plot and twists and turns kept me engaged to the end. This is the best of the trilogy. Wish there was a fourth book in the series.

Humor and close proximity to my own childhood growing up with sibling talk.

Disliked not being able to discern various persons speaking without having to go back and listen again to the dialogue.
