Publisher's summary

The historic hotel in Boonsboro has endured war and peace, the changing of hands, and even rumored hauntings. Now it’s getting a major face-lift from the Montgomery brothers and their eccentric mother. As the architect in the family, Beckett’s social life consists mostly of talking shop over pizza and beer. But there’s another project he’s got his eye on: the girl he’s been waiting to kiss since he was sixteen.

After losing her husband and returning to her hometown, Clare Brewster soon settles into her life as the mother of three young sons while running the town’s bookstore. Though busy and with little time for romance, Clare is drawn across the street by Beckett’s transformation of the old inn, wanting to take a closer look… at both the building and the man behind it.

With the grand opening inching closer, Beckett is happy to give Clare a private tour - one room at a time, in between blueprint meetings and kindergarten pickups. It’s no first date, but these stolen moments are the beginning of something that could arouse the secret yearning that resides in Clare’s independent heart - and open the door to the extraordinary adventure of what comes next....

very sweet story

a wonderful escape, especially if you're at all into refurbishing old houses and decorating! the only thing missing is explaining the ghost! also I think they would go to Frederick rather than hagerstown for supplies.

Excellent

First off- I love me some Nora Roberts. You should know that.
This book was engaging, funny, interesting, haunting, kind of scary, and so stinkin cute with the boys.
I’m not a huge fan of men reading books but he did a good job- I was pleasantly surprised.
I’m on to the second book and I can’t wait to listen to it!!!

A very well written love story with likable characters. The narrator did a great job too.

Love Nora

I am done with sex scenes that take pages to read. At least this story didn't involve nightly climaxes. I did hold my breath at the stalker scenes. Those built great suspense. I also liked how the ghost character developed and the respect given to her at the end of the book by the main and minor characters. This made the ghost believable.

Engaging performance.

This is the first of a trilogy, so I am looking forward to the next two books.
The Montgomery brothers are handsome construction contractors, refurbishing a historic Inn in Boonsboro, Maryland.
Beckett Montgomery, one of the brothers, has had a thing for Claire since high school. She's a widow with three small children, now and he has been working his way up to asking her on a date. Their love story is the main topic of the book. There is a ghost, and other engaging characters. The children and friends really make this book special.

Amazing story, mostly good narration

I’ve listened this book several times, read every time, I fall in love with the Montgomery brothers anew.

This is my second time listening to it, and while generally I really like the narration, the way he does the kids’ voices is just plain awful. The kids were in the book a lot so this wasn’t insignificant!

But I still recommend the listen.

I know everyone is different and a lot of people don’t like the narration but I love it. This is my favorite series.
