To save her family home, impulsive bookstore owner Alexa Maria McKenzie casts a love spell. But she never planned on conjuring up her best friend's older brother - the powerful man who once shattered her heart.
Billionaire Nicholas Ryan doesn't believe in marriage, but in order to inherit his father's corporation, he needs a wife and needs one fast. When he discovers his sister's childhood friend is in dire financial straits, he offers Alexa a bold proposition: a marriage in name only with certain rules. Avoid entanglement. Keep things all business. Do not fall in love. The arrangement is only for a year, so the rules shouldn't be that hard to follow, right? Except fate has a way of upsetting the best-laid plans.

"Full of nonstop sexual tension that crackles off the page." (Laura Kaye, author of Hearts in Darkness)
The story line is really cute with the childhood hatred of each other. I actually did have a friend read it and she too knew what was going to happen at the end within the first few chapters, but we still liked it as a fluff novel.
The one part where the performer starts screeching trying to convey emotion was just awful. I get there was supposed to be a lot of emotion, but when it's right in your ear it's just annoying.
One of the few books I actually stopped reading mid way through. Plot was way too predictable.
References to "romance novels" and cliched plot but delivered in a moderately interesting manner. Poor girl marries icy rich childhood friend in a "business deal" that gives her money to save her parents' home and allows him to gain full control of his architectural firm.
nope, too silly, poorly developed story
if the narrator didn't have a voice like she was recovering from a cold
I don't want to be mean about the narrator, but her voice isa bit nasal and out of breath or something? it doesn't suit this genre. I heard her in "calling invisible women" and her vioce suited the humor there... but made this book here even worse than it was
Yes because the author has a great storyline.
Voice was to raspy.
Story line was great but needs a different narrator.
I liked the story and the characters but the narrator spoiled this for me. She read too fast and with no emotion. I'm glad to see the narrator for the next two books in the series is different so I'll try the next one. Cute romantic story with no surprises.
I probably would after a little time.
This was a great book for a simple short listen where it was just for pure pleasure. It was fun and interesting but simple. It is the type of book I like to listen to once in a great while just for quick story.
The story was lacking and the ending too predictable. It had potential but failed miserably. Too much was crammed into one book and there was not enough depth.
No, I still enjoy this genre and there will always be good and bad for everyone.
The narration was far too fast. At times I couldn't tell what the narrator was saying. Not sure if it was sped up to fit into one download or not but it was far too fast.
Neat concept, just not executed.
No. The narrator drove me crazy with the same sentence tone...time and time again. UGHH!
No. She ruined the book.
