Publisher's summary

For the peaceful town of Willow Ridge, November presents an early holiday surprise.

Stranded in the snow, 18-year-old Lena Esh and her boyfriend, Josiah Witmer, need more than a place to stay for the night. Lena defied her strict family and their judgmental beliefs to run away with Josiah and have his baby. But she's starting to wonder if he can prove as responsible as he is passionate, and she isn't sure how - or if - they can ever find a place to truly call home.

Expecting their own miracle baby, Miriam and Ben Hooley rally the town to help the young couple, and Lena draws strength from their unexpected support.

Though trouble may come calling, in this season of joyous rebirth, a little child will lead them. And two couples will see their dreams of forever family come true.

Marvelous!

Love the story and hope it continues. Love the voice behind the story also. A great listen from Book one to this one.

what a wonderful book

I truly loved this book. I am not usually keen on amish books, but this was in my wish list many months. it shows how god works everything out for good even when life seems the darkest and no hope or answers in sight. how folks who know and love god and are willing to work together can accomplish so much. narrator fine. in fact I just called a friend who has good vision and loves to read and she wrote the name of the book down. I do not usually get so jazzed about a book, but this one was more than enjoyable in my opinion. I would highly recommend this book!!!

Strong Christian living

I loved the way the series showed true Christian everyday living. I related to the main Amish characters beliefs even though I would be considered "English". I would love to listen to more books by Charlotte Hubbard even if this series is at and end and another began. I listen to most books at a slower pace (90%) and really enjoyed this narration.

Great series!

I read several reviews about this series, and decided to give it a listen even tho it's not my usual genre. Engaging characters,, insightful glimpses into a religion I knew little about, and pretty good narration. Recommended.

Finished all of Seasons of the Heart

I know this is a review of Book 6 but you really can’t review ‘The Christmas Cradle’ without mentioning the entire series by Charlotte Hubbard and FABULOUSLY narrated by Susan Boyce, amazing.

I lived among a Mennonite family every summer from the age of 9-16, I also intermingled with many Amish. I was taught to quilt, milk cows at 5:30 am, and lived the ‘plain life’ for many summers as a kid from NYC...WHAT A EYE OPENER..anyway to this Book 6 and a touch on the other ones.

I adored a ‘Christmas Cradle’ not just because of babies being born, but a final end to Hyram the shunned ex-bishop. FYI: this part REALLY drove me crazy about him, his antics, and the way he led his ‘flock’, although as a Christian woman, this fictional diabolical man, is NOT what Bishops do or act in the Amish world. I had to say this because I noticed a few reviews said “If that’s what a supposed man of God acts like, I want nothing to do with this or any Amish books” NO this is NOT the norm..and God is LOVE not legalistic authority to their members.

Also the other Book (not sure of the number) was about Rhonda meeting Andy, who’s ‘English’, divorced and becomes an Amish. Again, VERY FICTIONAL. Maybe it happens, none I ever met become Amish, i know to leave the world to live completely without worldly things is highly unusual..but to marry a divorced man? Personally I found that too far out there. I know Ms Hubbard knows the Amish, but REALLY..they get shunned if they get divorced! Sorry..getting away from Book 6.

Book 6 reminded me of what love really is and how God blesses us in all sorts of situations. What man meant for evil God meant for good. That’s what the lesson I saw here. The relationship between the 2 young Amish kids, not married & pregnant, but because of Miriam & Bens love that showed them their community took them in because of their concerns for them. A tight knit community of Amish family’s that lived the life of believing Gods ways were greater than mans..and could overcome the evil that kept trying to destroy them, because believing and showing by example will always bring over the hardest doubters.

They may have had a town tragedy, they may have lost a lot of means & ways to make a living..but during Christmas God not only brought this town back together but bought 2 family’s together with miracles..the ones that are always called ‘blessed’

Wonderful series, a few questionable stories but I got through them & hope to read many more. It’s always great not to hear explicit sex situations & AMAZING no F BOMBS EITHER ❤️

Fabulous Series

Another wonderfully written and read book by Charlotte Hubbard! The details and descriptions put me right there at the scene. Her biblical and faith references are the very reason I love the Almish stories. Charlotte tells a love story without all the vulgar language and makes one feel they’ve always wanted to be cherished.

Great Story

This last book in the series was so good. Susan Boyce has got to be the best narrator of all time. She made the story come alive. Wish I could visit Willow Ridge.
