Publisher's summary

Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

Cal - who would be devastatingly sexy, if Iris allowed herself to think that way - offers Iris a hefty fee for hiding him at her place until he figures out who wants him permanently dead. Even though he's imperious, unfriendly, and doesn't seem to understand the difference between "employee" and "servant", Iris agrees, and finds herself breaking more and more of her own rules to help him - particularly those concerning nudity. Turns out what her quiet little life needed was some intrigue and romance - in the form of her very own stray vampire.

Love can be funny

Iris is the concierge to vampires in Half Moon Hallow this means she does all the things vampires cannot do in the day time, event planning. delivering blood, shipping packages, etc. On top of running her business she is the guardian to her sister and she is trying to manager her on/off again relationship with an ex boyfriend. Then one day Iris is in the middle of her very long to do list when she trips over Calix also known as Cal. Cal is a vampire, he has come to Half Moon Hallow to investigate a series of unprovoked vampire attacks on humans. The problem is Cal has been poisoned and needs to hide from everyone. The unwilling Iris agrees to host him for a week for a small fee. BUT Cal thinks humans are worthless and Iris thinks vampire are one step away from ripping her throat out. Iris and Cal have to figure out how to get beyond their issues.

We first meet Iris in Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors as she helps Jane get through her wedding nuptials. I really enjoyed this book it was lighthearted and funny. The writing is smooth all of the way through and the mystery who is behind the poisoning was good.

I listened to this book on audio, it was narrated by Amanda Ronconi and she is fantastic!

You do not need to read any of the other books in the Jane Jameson series nor the previous book in the Half Moon Hallow (Driving Mr. Dead)

Classic Molly & Amanda

Good story. I honestly hate that I waited so long to pick this "series" back up because I couldn't remember the references. Its a nice story. Not too scary and not too overly sexual. It follows a good pace and it is funny. Not like rom-com funny, but a few good chuckles sprinkled in.

Amanda Ranconi does a great job as usual in narrating. Glad I got this book.

A fun story

Like the rest of the Half Moon Hallow books this is a fun and silly paranormal story. The citizens of Half Moon Hallow are an interesting lot and I really enjoy seeing the familiar faces throughout the series.

Love the twist in the story

Took me a minute to realize that the ending was the ending. But I loved the characters.

Cute romance with some laughs

This was a very enjoyable listen. The short quips and jests that the main characters traded with one another were quite amusing and made me smile and at times laugh out loud. It has a cute love story and I would probably listen to it again when I feel the need for a little light-hearted romance.

It is all in the narration.

If you could sum up The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires in three words, what would they be?

Quirky, funny and relatable.

What did you like best about this story?

As with all of the series, it is the strong female lead with a funny/quirky personality that draws me in.

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Pronunciation. English is not my first language, so I enjoy the performance of a professional native speaker.
Her voice. I find her voice strangely therapeutic, I often re-listen to the stories just to hear her voice.
The way she 'makes voices' for the different characters, it feels natural and helps keep the narrative clutter-free, as I can tell which character is 'speaking' from the way Amanda reads them.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The bit where Jane uses her special skill to include Iris in her social circle.

Any additional comments?

The Half-moon hollow and the 'original' Jane Jameson series is a guilty pleasure that I keep coming back for more of.

Funny

Molly Harper has created a quaint, funny, friendly supernaturals community. When supernatural people "came out" the people of the community realize there was an
opportunity to support the lifestyle required for supernaturals. Supermarkets stocked an assortment of blood types so vampires can pick up their favorite blood type at the local store. Some people, like Iris added a personal touch to her service to the supernatural
community.

Iris Scanlon, a resident of Half Moon, has an exclusive concierge service which caters to vampires. Iris supports her and her sister financial obligations but is still just make ends meet. Iris is an intelligent, independent woman who lives by a set of rules to reduce the possible occupational hazardous.

With all her precautions, Iris is still faced with a dilemma. Take her "work" home, breaking on of her rules take the opportunity to make extra enough money to get her out of debt.

Molly Harper female characters are women who are opinionated, funny, and headstrong. They demand respect for their intelligence, and totally unaware of their inner beauty and physical beauty.
They are woman and stories that I enjoy reading about without a lot of profanity or explicitly sex. It is an enjoyable supernatural world, read it and enjoy.

Couldn't Help But Laugh Out Loud

Would you consider the audio edition of The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires to be better than the print version?

I only have the audio version, but doubt reading the print version would be better.

What other book might you compare The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires to and why?

Can't think of any one specifically. Perhaps portions of the Charlaine Harris Sooky Stackhouse series - a mix of humor, mundane, and the supernatural world.

Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not that I know of.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Iris Scanlon - Daylight Vampire Concierge or snack?

Any additional comments?

Did I mention funny?
