Publisher's summary

Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

Cal - who would be devastatingly sexy, if Iris allowed herself to think that way - offers Iris a hefty fee for hiding him at her place until he figures out who wants him permanently dead. Even though he's imperious, unfriendly, and doesn't seem to understand the difference between "employee" and "servant", Iris agrees, and finds herself breaking more and more of her own rules to help him - particularly those concerning nudity. Turns out what her quiet little life needed was some intrigue and romance - in the form of her very own stray vampire.

The right amount of snark and sweetness.

Where does The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It would be in the top 15.

What other book might you compare The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires to and why?

I would say that this book is very comparable to How to Seduce a Naked Werewolf in that the heroine was feisty and maybe a bit over her head and the hero is a bit troubled and a bit sweet.

Which scene was your favorite?

The beginning did a great job of sucking me in.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book was very funny.

Any additional comments?

It is definitely worth a credit.

Love the Humor of Molly Harper

Would you listen to The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires again? Why?

Probably not... it was a good listen, mostly because of the sarcastic and snarky self-deprecation-ey humor of Molly Harper... interpreted and delivered so well by Amanda Ronconi's talented vocal acrobatics... but the plot in itself, and the actual story was mediocre at best... and drawn out for the actual content.

Which character – as performed by Amanda Ronconi – was your favorite?

Ophelia... the voice and intonation is like Dahlia Royce from "Suburgatory" I seriously adore the combination of overly-bored, deliberately calculating and sharp words delivered in a slowly drawled, uber girly voice.

Any additional comments?

Why can't the heroines own being attractive? Whats the deal with all the flaws... c'mon.

NEVER Disappoints!

When you are tired of intense books, or tired of people finding their mates and just poof living happily ever after in a book where everything just seems to magically work out for everyone I HIGHLY recommend you pick up a Molly Harper Book where nothing works out the way you think it will and you will laugh until you cry and smile while you listen.

Some people don't want to get into these books because they think it's just another vampire series, they could not be further from the truth! In this book our human leading lady Iris owns a company who provides a special service...see ever since the vampires where outed by a lawsuit in the late 90's the general population has just had to accept that they really do exist. Part of that acceptance is creating sparkling fang toothpaste, Fo-type O (a fake blood replacement), and even vampire protection kits...all of which are available at the local Wal-Mart....nope not kidding! Iris's business is providing daytime services to the un-dead, for a nominal fee of course! She picks up donor blood, get's their pets groomed, cleans their house for the company they are having tonight and is just a personal assistant to the un-dead...but to be honest they kind of creep her out! She tries very hard never to meet any of them on purpose and never after dark.

That is until she goes to a new clients house and accidentally trips over his poisoned body on the floor. Oh she is SOOO not happy about being near the un-dead especially when the man asks for her help, for a sizable fee he needs her to take him home with her so he can figure out who tried to kill him. Waiting at home is her 17 year old sister, her mouthy opinionated, sneaky snarky sister...oh this is going to go well! It also doesn't hurt that the vampire is H-O-T!

The snarky jabs and jibes are hilarious, and I can't recommend these books and the narrator enough! Whenever I need a pick-me-up I turn to Molly Harper, she never disappoints! Put all her books in your wish list so audible can tell you when they go on sale, but to be honest I would pay full price for this slice of uncomplicated heaven.

Another wonderful book

What did you love best about The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires?

I love the duo of Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi. I find myself re-listening to all the Half Moon Hallow series as well as the Jane Jamison series every few months. Amanda Ronconi does a wonderful job narrating the stories and giving each character it's own voice. While Molly Harper's story will make you laugh out loud. By the end of the story you feel a real connection to the characters and look forward to seeing how they will appear in subsequent books.

This one follows the a day worker, Iris Scanlan who is afraid of vampires even though she works with them. The usual vampire couples of Jane and her crew make many appearances as they to help Iris out of her shell, as she learns that vampires don't all need to be feared. If you haven't read/listened to Jane's story I suggest you do.

Iris made another appearance in Driving Mr. Dead - another fave of mine and Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors. Despite how it's listed Driving Mr. Dead was published first and this one was published as a prequel to that one. But now it's time to hear Iris's story and how she came to run BeeLine, a vampire concierge service. We also get to meet Gigi, Iris's little sister. After Iris literally trips over Cal, a stern vampire investigating several cases of vampires going crazy, her life is turned upside down. All of a sudden she's hiding this vampire from the rest of the vampire council, a serious no-no that could possibly end her business if it doesn't end her life first. This book is a mystery of botanical perorations. Who is "poisoning" the vampires and causing the to go crazy killing any humans near them?
