Publisher's summary

An arranged marriage leads to passionate love in this classic Scottish historical romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

By edict of the king, the mighty Scottish laird Alec Kincaid must take an English bride. His choice is Jamie, youngest daughter of Baron Jamison - a feisty, violet-eyed beauty. Alec aches to touch her, to tame her, to possess her...forever. But Jamie has vowed never to surrender to a man she considers a highland barbarian.

Alec is everything Jamie’s heart has warned her against - an arrogant scoundrel whose rough good looks speak of savage pleasures. While Kincaid’s scorching kisses set fire to her blood, she is determined to resist him...until one rapturous moment quells their clash of wills, and something far more dangerous than desire threatens to conquer her senses...

Julie Garwood Writes Entertaining Novlels

I usually enjoy a love story that starts out with strong minded characters. The Bride does not disappoint. My only issue with the heroine is her quirks that are meant to be silly comes off as annoying. She has many other characteristics that are strong if you can get past the indulgences and the fact that women had no rights in England or Ireland at the time if this story. The hero is a much better man than most authors have in historical novels. He is a Laird and demands the respect that the position gives him and a not a bad husband ro boot!

Still laughed and enjoyed

Some dated parts. But still enjoyed listening as gardening and cleaning. Laughed out loud at fast paced dialogue

Classic, Awesome, Historical Romance.

Also Classic Julie Garwood read by
Rosalyn Landor.
Please… please have Landor re- record :The Wedding. The prior Audible recording is soooo below the Audible book for The Bride!!

And please Julie Garwood return to Historical Romance.

May I suggest Julie, the story of Gabriel’s and his wife Johannas’s miracle child’s life destiny from Saving Grace?

Or what about Ian and Judith’s child’s life story after The Ransom?

In Earnest,
Committed Fan

I heard it all before

This felt like a poor rehashing of some tale done a Scottish accent. They hate each other than yada yada the ice is broken, and they find an exploding love. I wish I could get my credit back

Great 1st book to listen too.

I had never listened to or read any books by this author and got the book on a recommendation. I am so glad I did. The book was so entertaining and I loved that Jamie could not find her way out of her own home sometimes. When I was little I was always told my name was a males name only and so hearing this in the book was funny. I will be getting other books by Julie Garwood after listening to this book.

Loved it.

I have read this book at least 8 times over the past 15 years, it's one of her best historical romances. The narration is lovely. I'll be listening to this again and can only hope they will offer more of her unabridged work.
