Publisher's summary

An arranged marriage leads to passionate love in this classic Scottish historical romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

By edict of the king, the mighty Scottish laird Alec Kincaid must take an English bride. His choice is Jamie, youngest daughter of Baron Jamison - a feisty, violet-eyed beauty. Alec aches to touch her, to tame her, to possess her...forever. But Jamie has vowed never to surrender to a man she considers a highland barbarian.

Alec is everything Jamie’s heart has warned her against - an arrogant scoundrel whose rough good looks speak of savage pleasures. While Kincaid’s scorching kisses set fire to her blood, she is determined to resist him...until one rapturous moment quells their clash of wills, and something far more dangerous than desire threatens to conquer her senses...

A favorite classic historical romance

Julie Garwood's historical romance's are some of my favorite rereads with The Bride being at the top. The narration was not my favorite, but the story kept me entertained as usual.

My favorite Garwood novel

I’ve read and listened to this one by Julie Garwood and read by Rosalyn Landor multiple times. It’s funny and romantic. Rosalyn’s male voices are a pleasure to listen too as well as the female. Highly recommend

Good Story, Excellent Narration

The story is well written fluff. Exactly what you expect from an accomplished writer of Highland romance. It's nothing high brow, but very relaxing and heartwarming.

The performance is excellent. The narrator performs male and female voices in both English and Scottish accents very well. Her reading voice is very engaging, but also soothing. I actually listened to this one twice because of her performance.

A pleasant surprise!

I loved this book! Just a good romance and funny English/Scottish rival between the couple. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. If you are looking for hot and heavy it’s not here, but still sexy enough you want to keep listening.

I don’t understand

I enjoyed the story but the narrator ruined it for me. It was a real struggle for me finish this one! Her portrayal made Kincade sound like a stiff puny man. The sex scenes were a bit much for me also.

so pleased

I have loved these books from Julie Garwood for many years. I have read so many of her books multiple times. So choosing to invest listen to it on my long drive was a really fun choice. I was so pleased with the narrator who just brought to life the characters that I had in my heart as I read. I appreciate the way she was able to read the story and have me get lost in the listening. I'm going to enjoy listening to this again and again the way I've enjoyed reading the books again and again
