Publisher's summary

No safe word can protect the heart....

Infamous erotica author and accomplished dominatrix Nora Sutherlin is doing something utterly out of character: hiding. While her longtime lover, Søren - whose fetishes, if exposed, would be his ruin - is under scrutiny pending a major promotion, Nora's lying low and away from temptation in the lap of luxury.

Her host, the wealthy and uninhibited Griffin Fiske, is thrilled to have Nora stay at his country estate, especially once he meets her traveling companion. Young, inexperienced and angelically beautiful, Michael has become Nora's protégé, and this summer with Griffin is going to be his training, where the hazing never ends.

But while her flesh is willing, Nora's mind is wandering. To thoughts of Søren, her master, under investigation by a journalist with an ax to grind. And to another man from Nora's past, whose hold on her is less bruising, but whose secrets are no less painful. It's a summer that will prove the old adage: love hurts.

Love the story and the book

Narrator was not so great the first half but was better the second half. Weird how she changed.

Love This Series

Oh. My. God. I just love Tiffany Reisz. This book was WONDERFUL. I love all the characters, though Soren still scares the crap out of me. This book is extremely intense and is probably too much for some people. Tiffany is the biggest mind f*ck ever. Just when I think I know what is going on, she throws something at me.

The audiobook was done very well. I had read the book previously, which I do a lot. The narrator does a great job.

Book is Fabulous, but Buy it On Kindle

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would not recommend the audiobook to a friend, as I thought the narrator was a TERRIBLE fit. After listening to Aeron James narrate the Siren, I couldn't WAIT to hear the next book. But this narrator was just not a good fit for the dark, complicated, and emotional subject matter. She sounded chipper even in the throws of wild kink.

What other book might you compare The Angel to and why?

The Siren, for it's fantastic character development, story telling, and interweaving of different points of view seamlessly and sensibly. Also for her uncanny ability to define passion in ways you would never have on your own.

Would you be willing to try another one of Lilly Rhodes’s performances?

Maybe for a more upbeat subject matter.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Reading the kindle version did make me tear up quite a few times, and I did giggle quite a few times as well.

Any additional comments?

Fantastic book, just not the right fit for this narrator.

couldn't listen

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I didn't get far enough to rate the writing or story. The narrator didn't fit the story line. She was so flat and unbelievable that I couldn't get past the first 15 minutes. I tried but just couldn't continue listening.

Would you ever listen to anything by Tiffany Reisz again?

She might be okay for a different genre but she didn't fit this one.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Lilly Rhodes?

Shayna Thibodeaux ;

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Couldn't get past the first 15 minutes.

Any additional comments?

Frustrated with a waste of a credit.

I loved the 1st one

Can't take the audio narration if you go that route which is all I have time for.

Read this book, don't listen

While this is my favorite Red years story of the series, I'm very disappointed 😞 with the reader.

Buy this on Kindle

After Siren, I was really excited to read this next book. I purchased it right away, and then realized that the narration wasn't going to give me the satisfaction I desired.

Particularly, Lilly Rhodes' interpretation of Soren is just sad. She makes him sound like an wizened old man instead of a strikingly handsome and intimidating 6'5 danish hunk priest with a whip fetish. I didn't like her Nora either -- too upbeat and cheery for the subject matter. All in all, she's a terrible fit for this kind of read.

Get it on Kindle instead. I did, and I couldn't put it down.

Narration distracted from the story

Overall good romance story. Finished, but a struggle due to narration. The voice tone and pitch were different and your ears don't adjust until approx. Chapters 10-15.

The narrator is wack!

Seriously, who chose this woman? The narrator makes Soren sound like the Cheshire Cat, or something equally as Victorian and foppish. They should remake this, because it is a good story, but the awful voice acting is makes me want to dump it in the trash!
