Constant Danger

On the run from a mental institution and her vindictive half brother, it's safe to say that Sarah Pringle's happy life as a schoolteacher is on hold. Too bad that as far as self-defense goes, "run and hide" is the best she's got. And with the monsters that started her escape hot on her heels, that's not going to cut it for long....

Instant Lust

That is unless Sarah has a bigger, badder, hotter monster on her side. Max Petrovsky is right at the top of the list of alpha male ass kickers. And he knows exactly what Sarah's up against. Good thing because the minute he sees her, something primal kicks in, turning everyday attraction into red-hot desire. As long as they're cooperating, why not mix some pleasure with business? Of course Max should probably tell Sarah he's a vampire himself...

A FAST-PACED ENJOYABLE PNR BUT.... SADLY WAY TOO SHORT

The only thing wrong with this listen, Book 2.5 in Dark Protectors Series, is that it's too short and because of that everything had to be rushed. These sexy Alpha Vampire Protectors are fighting their enemies, the evil Vampire-like Kurjans with their yellow fangs and Sulphur smell, who have not only declared War but have also developed a deadly virus that's threatening to kill the Protector's Human psychically gifted mates and then their entire race will die out.

As Max, a Soldier in the Vampire King's Army, sweeps in to save Sarah, who is on the run from the Kurjans and also her wicked Half-Brother, he sensed instantly that she was his mate, but he didn't want to claim her. Because claiming her would put her life in danger as she would then be targeted by the Kurjans who would try to infect her with the deadly virus they had created. However, her life was in danger anyway because she had something the Kurjans wanted and she could be forced to mate one of them.

Yes, this is a short listen, but Rebecca Zanetti manages to pack a lot into this action-packed listen..... a romance that was very swift to develop because the lack of hours meant it had to be love at first sight, quickly followed by lust and sex. But there's also a good plot with fighting, daring rescues, beheadings, betrayal, greed, great secondary characters and the sense of brotherhood comes shining out between the Protectors.

Worth a credit? Because it's an under $10 listen I just bought it and saved the credit for a longer and pricier listen. I'd have to say it doesn't really move the secondary storyline of the War with the Kurjans on much but it does mate up another couple, bring in another character and is a must have for fans of this series. Dual POV's and a narrator who seamlessly did each character's voice which left you knowing just who was talking at all times.

Terrific As Always

The only problem with these books is Ms Zanetti can't write them fast enough for me. I absolutely adore these books and look forward to each one. This one was no exception

every element of a full-length story !

AudioBook Review: Stars: Overall 4 Narration 5 Story 4

Oh I think I love Max! Russian by birth, he is completely sure that his heart does not exist. That is until Dage assigns him to watch over and protect Janie. In seconds, the little girl shared a secret, asked to be his friend, and made the singularly BEST Reveal EVER. While all of the vampires in this story have eyes that glow with a metallic shine, only Max has shiny and sparkly PINK eyes. It’s a wonderful juxtaposition for the big, bad, roughhewn vampire, and only adds to the little boy who wants to be loved beneath the shell.

When he has to hunt down another innocent caught in the conflict between Kurjans and the Realm, we meet Sarah. Sarah has been confined in a mental institution and drugged to keep her ‘revelations’ at bay. Sarah is touch sensitive: a touch of an object gives her visions and history of that object. Her brother (a disgusting POS) has committed her, and will go to great lengths and pair with anyone to keep her under his control.

Glimpses of Max have appeared throughout the story, he’s really become a favorite character, and this gives us more of his own story, full of background and insecurities from his rough childhood and his loyalty to Dage and the Realm. Sarah, as an ‘enhanced’ human, is right at the center of the Kurjan “to get” list, and they soon find they have to go through Max to get there.

As the story line is all about fated mates, and Max, whether or not he wants it, has found his in Sarah. A kick ass, smart mouthed heroine who isn’t afraid of this oversized killer. Fast paced dialogue, plenty of action and the heat that fairly sizzles the speakers, Zanetti packed every element of a full-length story into this novella without missing a trick. I would have loved more, but that is common with stories I enjoy.

Narration is again provided by Karen White and again she captures the emotional tones and distinctive elements that gives each character a unique sound that is wholly theirs. It is difficult to NOT enjoy this couple, and their rapid fire dialogue is perfectly presented, never missing a beat. Emotion, humor, sarcasm and even fear clearly present in tone and delivery: you just KNOW what the characters feel, and the narration just brings those elements to the forefront.

A wonderful installment in the series, perfect for fans of paranormal romance with a bit of oomph.

I received an AudioBook copy of the title from Audible Communications for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Super sweet

I have loved Max from the start. I really love how Sara was not stubborn to nearly the point of dumb and irritating. She rolls with the punches but does it with toughness and kindness. I she is my favorite grown female lead so far.

I love the way the narrator reads with feeling. I will try and find more books that she does.

Terrible Narration!!

It was so bad that I couldn’t even finish the book. Her voice was so freaking irritating and the intonation for different emotions was flat out abysmal!! Decent short story plot development but the narrator’s voice kept destroying the scenes so I finally gave up trying to listen to this book.

Not much to like

I love Ms. Zanetti’s books but this one was not worth a credit. I really disliked the performance so much I was tempted to just not finish the book. I liked Max but his mate needed more of a back bone. I won’t be ordering anymore of this series if the narrator stays the same. Voice to winey and needy.
