Not what you think......

It's a little bit over the top with the details and some might even call it raw. But it will capture you with the story and you won't be able to turn it off. I'm now on book 5 and dreading seeing the series come to an end. The characters are so real, and so interesting. I have thoroughly enjoyed this author.

Great book. Very well written. The build up was great and very teasing. I'm a fan of submission but I did find that the level Faith and Gray were looking for was a step beyond where I would be comfortable with so I did find that I had to take myself out of the story as the heroine. I then became very happy for the couple as I realized that this is what they truly wanted from each other. So in that regard I really enjoyed it but I would have loved it if I was able to keep my self in the story longer :)

This story just did not keep me captive. The romance/erotic moments were a little to cold and unpersonal.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I think I am going to deviate from romance novels for a while. Maybe I am just burned out.

Which character – as performed by Caroline Wintour – was your favorite?

Mrs. Wintour did a great job differentiating the different voices of the characters and showing their individual personalities. I give her 5 stars for her performance. It is the story I did not enjoy that much.

Did Sweet Surrender inspire you to do anything?

Yes. It inspired me to try a different type of novel for a while. I am going to listen to a light mystery next. Maybe I just need a break from romance/erotic novels.

Eh...didn't do it for me

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not really. I didn't think the characters were particularly interesting or fully fleshed out. I never really cared about what happened with Faith's mother. I was pretty bored at many points in the book, and was happy the book was fairly short.

Did Caroline Wintour do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes, though some of the male voices (like Mick's) were actually distracting.

Do you think Sweet Surrender needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, I don't think there are any open story lines - I'm not sure that there's anything to follow up on.

Any additional comments?

Try a different Maya Banks book - this one wasn't one of her best.

Same story-different characters

I read in a review before I bought this book that Maya Banks was merely writing the same story with different characters. this is yet another Damsel in distress brought to new sexual heights by another predictable alpha male. As usual, Ms. Banks writes a lovely romance. It is ridiculous that Maya portrays the same female character in every single book. She just simply can't survive without her hero (my best southern lady impression). This helpless female will surely perish if her man doesn't think and shoot her way out if her problems for her! BORING PREDICTABLE

You know what you are getting

As other reviews mentioned this series is formulaic. I had no problem with the narration, the storyline is predictable, the sex scenes are ...prolonged. Ah well, I got the book through the Romance package so the price was right. By hour 5 however I was listening at 3 times normal speed. This will be the last book in the series that I’ll listen to. There’s only so much time I’m willing to spend hearing about helpless,not-very-bright women who need a dominant man to find fulfillment.

A little story but alot of sex!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book if they were not intimidated by explicit sex. This book is full of it. I don't mind the content but this was by far the most graphic and realistic I have listened to thus far.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think I liked Mica the best....seems very sexy and into alot of different women and uhhh activitites.....

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I did not like the narrator...she read too fast and her male voices were a little soft for the activities they were involved in.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

X-rated......

This is a first of the series and I will continue on though my toes may become permanently curled!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG Amazing Book

I love this book and this series. Maya Banks will pull you in from the first page and you won't want to stop reading or listening. If you enjoy Dom and Sub type books this is a highly recommended series to read.

It is very sexy with a good 'mystery' - perfect for those who are into adult themes and do not mind strong language.
