Publisher's summary

So how did I get myself into this situation, you ask? Simple: desperation. When you're faced with being homeless and hungry or taking off your clothes for money, the choice is easier than you'd imagine. That doesn't make it simple, though. Oh no. I hate it, in fact. There's nothing I'd like more than to quit and never go into another bar again, never hear the techno beat pulsing in my ears again, never feel the lecherous gazes of horny men again.

Then, one day, I meet a man. He's in my club, front and center. He watches me do my routine, and his gaze is full of hunger. Not the kind of desire I'm used to though. It's something different. Something hotter, deeper, and more possessive. I know who he is. Everyone knows who Dawson Kellor is. He's People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive. He's the hottest actor in Hollywood. He's the man hand-picked for the role of Rhett Butler in the long-awaited remake of Gone with the Wind. He's the kind of man who can have any woman in the entire world with a mere crook of his finger. So what's he doing looking at me like he has to have me? And how do I resist him when he looks at me with those intoxicating, changeable, quicksilver eyes?

I'm a virgin, and he's an American icon of male sexuality. I'm a stripper, and he's a man used to getting anything and everything he wants. And he wants me. I know I should say no, I know he's the worst kind of player...but what my mind knows, my body and my heart may not. And then things get complicated.

Laborious, improbable & insipid

I gave up. This book is soooo slooowww and the lead female character is just so unbelievable. I mean come on....a USC film student that is this naive??? Improbable.... even if she is a preacher's daughter. Summer Roberts did her best, but given a southern princess who is unbelievably naive, well the whole thing was a painful listen. I barely made it mid way through when I just abandoned it. This is only the second or third time I've done that with any book. Not sure I'll even bother to look at any other books by Jasinda Wilder. Just a waste of time and money or credit......

I am rather disappointed in this book

Any additional comments?

Stripped is about Grey, a young woman raised in a very strict religious household who falls in love with film and decides to move to LA to pursue a degree and career in the movie industry. Her father does not approve of this decision so she goes it alone and when her scholarship money runs out she decides to take a job as a stripper to pay her way.

Immediately upon being introduced to Grey, I could not connect to her. I found myself disagreeing with and befuddled by her actions as she constantly came across as inconsistent and whiney. Warning - She cries ALL the time! It became very old, very quickly. I recognize that she was struggling with moving out on her own and away from the religious background she was raised in, but I wanted her to get her shit together and man up. I wanted to shake her and yell in her face. That is not a good reaction to have for a heroine.

I did love Dawson. He is such a kind and caring man. Don't know why he fell for Grey. Sadley i will not be listening to any other books by Jasinda. Must say Summer Roberts narration was great, loved the southern accent.

A crying Mary Sue Stripper with Poor Self Awarenes

The summary was accurate but also misleading. If you are looking for a strong lead character this is not the place. She cries all the time. Any time she can cry she does cry. It gets to the point where you can tell she never develops as a character. Her self reflection is pretty bad. She vomits all the time and barely eats but it's due to "being too busy" or "ashamed of her life choices." Right....

The sexual content is drawn out and kind of unbelievable.

The performance was pretty good given what she had to work with.

This story kind of resembles the virgin stripper version of Pretty Woman. It had potential but it was lost somewhere.

Meh.

The performance was fine, but the story was just "meh". there wasn't much that made you really resonate with the character, it felt very... I don't know... maybe childish? But that's a harsh word... it just didn't catch my attention.

Really Boring

Would you try another book from Jasinda Wilder and/or Summer Roberts?

I usually love Jasinda's books. This one was not very good. Too slow and repetitive
I want him, I can't want him, I want him, I can't want him. I want to stay then she leaves. Again I want to stay then she runs away over and over again.

Please give me my money back!

I'm writing this review without even being able to finish the book. First the beginning is insanely and needlessly long. Has anyone ever heard of editing?

Next she goes to college and somehow uses up all her financial aid grant money after two years. The financial aid person tells her she is an independent so they expect her to work but if she had been a dependent she would get more. Huh?? Do some research. This is not how financial aid works. It's possible not having enough to cover tuition but not in that stupid way.

Then she looks for a job waiting until two weeks before tuition is due? For a college student she isn't very bright.

Then she applies for a job as a stripper but she can't even unbutton her top without crying. She is just too ridiculous and so is this story

Give me back my money. Ugh

I tried I really did...

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I'm not sure, but it's not me. I tried I really did. I kept thinking just enjoy it for what it is. Which most of the time I can. I know it's a YA. I don't mind that. I enjoy the genre quite a bit. This book had so much potential for me. I thought it was such an interesting idea! I really wanted to like the characters. But it was sooo shallow. The characters, the plot, the relationship, everything.... The words SEX= LOVE just kept popping up in my head and not in a good way. It just made me feel icky. Any relationship building conversations felt forced. And the Brand Names of things that kept popping up, throughout the whole book (a few times is OK for me, but this was ridiculous!) was so off putting and tacky. I tried again and again to get threw it. I actually gave up with a little over an hour and a half left. I just couldn't force myself to listen anymore. I feel just bad about the whole thing. So disappointed...

What do you think your next listen will be?

Something with a substantial plot. I feel like my brain needs to be scrubbed clean with a good book.

What didn’t you like about Summer Roberts’s performance?

She wasn't horrible, but she wasn't terribly appealing either. After a while (I'm not sure, but it may have just been my frustration with the book) she became annoying to me.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Frustration and disappointment. This is the first time I've felt this way about a book.

Any additional comments?

Hey, it may just be me. I actually thought I liked this author. I don't know what happened. You may love this book. But sadly it's just not for me.
