Good story, bad narration

Would you try another book from Kay Hooper and/or Cristine McMurdo-Wallis?

I would try another Kay Hooper book

What didn’t you like about Cristine McMurdo-Wallis’s performance?

She sounds old for the age of the characters in the book, lots of strange pauses and I didn't care for her interpretation of the characters. She made the book more boring than it really was.

Could you see Stealing Shadows being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

yes

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the story, I just wish it was a better narrator.

Fantastic "read"

Would you listen to Stealing Shadows again? Why?

Captivating, enthralling, suspense packed, a great ending with a couple of twists. The only criticism i can give this book is that it ended :(
Its always sad when you finish a book you cant put down for the life of you!

droning monotone narration

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The tone of her voice never changed. The woman that narrated this story should only be allowed to read hypnosis recordings.

Story: good - Narrator: not so much :(

I enjoyed the story even though some of the dialog was hokey. My only complaint relates to the narrator. Her deep, husky voice was difficult to listen to; particularly her interpretation of male voices. I nearly ground my teeth to bits clenching my jaws listening to this narrator. In the future, I will avoid her readings.

Terrible awful horrible horrific narrative!

This was the absolute worst narration that I have ever heard! I thought up until now that I've heard bad but I was terribly wrong. There are long pauses and you wonder what happened. Everyone has the same voice. It's bad. Bad bad.

Narrator would be great at bedtime stories...

What disappointed you about Stealing Shadows?

Although I enjoyed the storeyline, I'm afraid the narrator took the enjoyment out of the audible experience for me. She kept putting me to sleep with a dull monotone voice. She had a higher pitch for females and lower pitch for males, but all the females sounded alike and the same for the males. I had to keep checking to see who was talking because you just couldn't tell one from another.

If you’ve listened to books by Kay Hooper before, how does this one compare?

I enjoy Kay Hooper books, and the story here wasn't one of my favorites, but still enjoyed it.

How could the performance have been better?

Nothing short of another narrator would have helped the performance.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Stealing Shadows?

None.

Any additional comments?

Lots of suspense building, but a little predictable ending.

Narrator

Narrator was distracting with mouth noises and audible pauses while speaking. Almost couldn’t listen to the narration due to the mouth noises.

Utter waste of money and time!

Nothing short of girly twaddle, read by a narrator straight from the cheese factory!

I kept listening as I was short of a decent book to listen to and my favorite authors just can't write fast enough to keep me happy; however, I could barely make it to the last sappy sentence. That's the first and last Kay Hooper book I'm going to listen to and also the last one read by that narrator.
