This feeds the soul

Beautiful story of love and connections that I crave. I have read Singh’s books out of order- it didn’t matter. Same relief for a starving soul.

I will listen to all of Singh books

The story should be familiar and in some ways it is. But utterly unique, I am obsessed. Forced to be home because 2020 is the year of being stuck at home. I listen to this book quickly and started number 2 right away, since I borrowed this one I returned it and downloaded as many of the series as I could. Then after listening to number 2 I had to redownload to review. Because she is that good.

Slave to Sensation- Nalini Singh

I adore this book, the one that started me on a journey of over 10 years and around 16 books so far.

S2S starts the story of the Psy-Changeling world with Sacha and Lucas’ story. We are introduced to a brand new world built by Nalini Singh (whose world building is first class) where Psy and Changelings are locked into a battle for supremacy and safety.

The Psy world is cold, barren and full of amazing mental powers but not always good.

The Changeling world is gritty and brutal while also being loving and kind and tactile - just what our heroine needs even though she doesn’t know it.

Come along for the ride but be sure to start at the beginning and read in order so you get the full benefit of the story arc. They are all wonderful books and this - along with 4-5 others - I reread or re listen to several times a year. They are incredibly romantic.

Incredible narration

What does Angela Dawe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She does the different voices so well and really brings this story to life.

Any additional comments?

The book is a fun ride. Sascha is a character who grows throughout without loosing the qualities that make her unique. She is a Psy with emotions a flaw according to her race.
Lucas is all alpha, he is demanding yet tender with pack. Protective and afraid of suffering another loss that he becomes almost constrictive to a people that need their freedom to survive. He also has some well done character growth.
The side characters may be my favourite though particularly Tamsin. I love the healer she is the easiest to attach to for me and I would love to have her as a friend.

There are some predictable moments and the typical HEA ending but all and all it is a wonderful listen and I will absolutely be continuing with the series.

Interesting storyline

Although the plot idea was interesting & I liked the characters, I felt like it didn't "flow" very well. It started pretty slow, then all of a sudden the main characters became a couple, then a bunch of things happened in a rush to the end. The narrator was fine except there was NO pause at the end of chapters. It was if the last sentence of a chapter ended with the words "Chapter 'X' ".

Love this series…

I always come back to listen to this series… I read other books, years may pass, but I do return. Like coming home to the beginning of my audible experience.

Worth the credit!

I almost didn't buy this book because the description was vague at best...boy did the publisher do a disservice to this book. If I did the blurb it was say something like....”Sasha has known all her life that as a Psy there were certain expectations she MUST live up to…no fear….no emotion…no humanity. Yet all her life Sasha knew that she was different from other Psy, and lived in each day in fear that someone else would find out her secret. To live up to her mother’s high expectations Sasha must oversee a building project for her people, but when she stares across the table at proposed builder Lucas Hunter…a Changling… a species fully capable of emotion, she starts to lose her hold on the lie that has been her life and embrace her desire.
