Publisher's summary

Shade is everything Lily doesn't want in a man. He's rude, obnoxious, and definitely not a cowboy. The tattooed enforcer for The Last Riders is a mystery Lily doesn't want to solve. He's too much for her to handle, especially with the nightmares from her past constantly threatening her sanity. Lily is everything Shade wants in a woman. She's sweet, kind, and submissive. When she discovers the truth about The Last Riders, it threatens to tear apart every relationship within the club. Her rebellion causes the predatory instincts to rise in the ex-Navy SEAL sniper. When The Last Riders are threatened by another motorcycle club just as determined to claim Lily, Shade is her only hope of surviving the approaching confrontation. Could their passion be Shade's downfall?

Contains mature themes.

Some very good, some not so much

This has a good storyline but falls short in some places. The Dom portions were kinda weirdly off. The other parts of his personality were pretty good. His bossiness came across as annoying and juvenile, not really dom like.

Some things like "hell yes... shes the best with a .22 that there is" ... a 22 in a gunfight? lol. oh my...

Still... its a complete storyline which is better than most romance books these days. It didn't rush to sex which I appreciated. (at least with the main relationship) I read love stories for the 'love story' part.. not so much the erotica. There WAS a real love story here.

Anyhow... better than most. The performance was good. I could have skipped the whole group sex thing but its pretty hard to find a romance book without the kink these days.

Not for everyone!

This is one of those types of books that many people will not understand and ,therefore, will not like. Shade, the Hero, is very stern with Lily, the Heroine. He does not cater to Lily’s coping mechanisms. He pushes beyond her comfort zone. If a reader didn’t have any knowledge of trauma treatment or if they respond emotionally without peeling back the layers of Shade’s actions, they may see him as emotionally abusive and controlling. The truth is, Lily needs to be pushed in order to begin the healing process. Does Shade have any training? The book does not mention any formal psychological training but, it is obvious that he has had training to be a Dominant. Nurturing a D/s relationship between he and Lily, forces trust and communication between Lily and Shade.

This book also has more mystery and unexpected questions answered.

I honestly feel like this book, in the series, has more depth and character development than any of the previous. The relationship between the H/h develops at a more realistic rate; no insta love.

If you are able to start this book with a positive, open mind, you can’t help but appreciate and enjoy it. Is it worth a credit? In my opinion, absolutely YES!

Great Story

Wonderful story and great narration. Much better than the distracting awful narration in some of the others in the series.

Do not listen until you read spinoff books

Any additional comments?

After I listened to the first 2 books, I looked up the author and found her website showing the book order. To my surprise, there were 3 books I needed to read before listening to book 3 of Last Riders. Since they were not available in Audibles, I downloaded them to my e-reader. I am so glad I did. The character of Lilly is only one of the background characters throughout Last Riders until her love story is covered in Shade's Fall. However, there is a lot to her story that comes out in the other three books that you do not want to miss.

Sex Piston (Biker Bitches, #1)
Teased (The VIP Room, #1)
Tainted (The VIP Room, #2)

Spoilers
I don’t normally discuss the story with spoilers in a review, but felt it necessary in this case.
I was glad to see Lilly find her HEA. While the story was good, it ran a bit slow for me in the middle. I wish the author had made Lilly a little less immature and more sensual in her interactions with Shade. Or at least show her growth to a sexy, provocative woman. Shade was able to use his Dom side to help Lilly a lot with her panic attacks and that was a positive in the story. However, the sex part of the BDSM that Shade enjoyed came off as a bit “pervy” due to Lilly's immature nature. A woman can be innocent and still be a mature adult. A woman can be sexy and still be inexperienced. Lilly knew how to use a pole from a class she took in college, and the Last Riders had one in the workout room. The author could have used it as an opportunity for Lilly to realize her womanly power and use it to her full advantage. Instead, Shade got turned on and Lilly got embarrassed. I also never picked up on Lilly’s physical attraction to Shade until two thirds of the way in. She just always seemed afraid of him. I think the BDSM sex would have come off a lot better had Lilly developed some sophistication with Shade eary on. I understand why the author held all that back due to Lilly’s hidden memories and panic attacks. As a result, her sexy interactions with Shade just did not work until almost after they were married. I had high hopes that this would be the sexiest book of the Last Riders, but, sadly, it is the least sexy due to Lilly’s immature nature throughout.

The Last Riders like kinky sex, like multiple partners and open displays and it may bother some readers. I had no problem with it as the sex was a background to the story and all the couples become monogamous as they fall in love in each story.

Overall, the series has been enjoyable to read. The author has created a whole slew of characters that are around in every book, so it is fun to revisit them. At last count, there were three other MCs throughout these stories. I plan to continue with this series and any spinoffs.

BTW, after this book, you need to read King (The VIP Room #3) before reading Last Riders #5.

Wow Just WOW!!!

I fell in love with Lilly from the beginning of this series. I knew Shade would do what ever it took to keep her. They are a match made in heaven. The author is amazing and really brought these characters to life. I wish they would have a dual narrators giving that final perfection it needed. Can't wait for the next book on here!!!

Gritty, mature romance not for the faint of heart

This series is not for "normal" romance lovers. These bikers "share" ... are very dominant in sexual activities and expect the women to fall into place. What is appealing is that it does have a story line, a plot and character development. The sex is gritty .... the situations are voyeuristic and there is hot sex, steamy sex, dominant sex, shared sex ..... perhaps sale worthy.
