Publisher's summary

A champion boat racer, Cameron Quinn traveled the world spending his winnings on champagne and women. But when his dying father calls him home to care for Seth, a troubled young boy not unlike Cameron once was, his life changes overnight.

After years of independence, Cameron has to learn to live with his brothers again, while he struggles with cooking, cleaning, and caring for a difficult boy. Old rivalries and new resentments flare between Cameron and his brothers, but they try to put aside their differences for Seth's sake.

In the end, a social worker, as tough as she is beautiful, will decide Seth's fate. She has the power to bring the Quinns together - or tear them apart...

Nothing unique - very predictable.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

If my friend likes light, predictable soap opera-esque books then, yes.

Would you be willing to try another book from Nora Roberts? Why or why not?

I have liked Nora Roberts' books in the past but feel I have outgrown them. This book offered nothing unique, thought provoking or educational.

Was Sea Swept worth the listening time?

It kept me entertained enough while painting my walls but wouldn't listen to it again.

Great story, but performance: Meh.

So I am rediscovering my favorite Nora Roberts stories through audible.com and knew I would love this series since I'd read it years before... which I thoroughly did... heartwarming and unexpected.
I didn't approach the story with a preconceived idea about how the voices should sound, since I'd read the story so long ago, but, my goodness, the voices the reader created for these three brothers were a bit off the mark. One brother was fine. One 30-ish year old brother sounded like a toothless, octogenarian, and one, also a 30-ish year old, sounded like a whiny, pre-pubescent boy... it was jarring, to say the least.
Usually, if a voice doesn't quite match my image of a character, I am able to be swept away in the story by the end of the third chapter and realize that I don't notice the disparity between what I imagined and what I am hearing. But this time, every time one of these brothers entered a scene, the horror of their voice performance was a fresh and undiluted as the first time I heard it.
I noticed that the same narrator performs the 2nd but not the 3rd and 4th books in the series, so I will l probably continue listening... BUT the 2nd book is the story told from the point of view of the 2nd brother (the toothless octogenarian I mentioned before)... and I truly don't know if I can manage to listen to the reader's rendition of this character for a whole book... sad because it was my favorite of the series.

Disappointed

The male narrator just ruined this book for me. He was absolutely unable to do a female voice.

This Was a Re-read

This is my second time listening to this. One of the series I could listen to over and over. It heartwarming and the personalities and interactions of the brothers is priceless.

The narrator did an excellent job with the voices and the personalities of the characters. Loved this book and highly recommend it.

So very very good

I read this series years ago many times. I consider it one of Nora’s best works, and she has many, but this one stands out. The way she makes you feel what the boys feel is simply great.

Very predictable

Guess she run out of good ideas on this one. Left too much up in the air. Love the reader.

I'm becoming a Nora fan

Where does Sea Swept rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Nora Roberts seems to have a good formula for romantic stories, yet the plots are so different each time. It's similar to, yet different from, her other books.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this book and plan to look up others in the Chesapeake Bay series

Just so-so

Would you try another book from Nora Roberts and/or David Stuart?

The story lacked a connection with the young boy Seth. I get it is supposed to be a romance novel, and focus on the romantic parties, but really didn't feel a strong connection to the characters.

David Stuart has an annoying habit of snapping his jaw creating a clashing of teeth during the narration.

A Series I Cannot Wait To Continue-Solid 4*s

What made the experience of listening to Sea Swept the most enjoyable?

This was a great story about how 3 VERY different foster [now adult] brothers, the Quinn's, must work together for their father's dying wish to keep their dad's latest 'charge' as part of the family.

Along with trying to make everything work to keep the deathbed wish, there is mystery about the father's auto accident, Seth (the latest charge's paternity), social worker, foster home, etc. There is a lot here and was a bit frustrated as the end came and there were so many ends to be tied up and the minutes were flying by...so I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED to find it was the beginning of a series.

This is Cameron's story...

What does David Stuart bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His diversity of portraying the adult men in the story shows his talent...he also did well with the younger and female characters.

Any additional comments?

I don't know why, but it seems Nora Roberts has a need to stick a degree of paranormal in every book. I'm not a fan, I like to stay in the 'here and now'. However, there were only 3 brief conversations between Cameron and his deceased father.

Personally, I don't think they were necessary to the story and I almost turned it off after the first scene (I dislike those sorts of stories THAT much) but I'm glad I stuck through.

Creditworthy...4 Solid stars
