Publisher's summary

Not long after his brother, Simon, was revealed to be a ruthless serial killer and met his demise, Special Agent Daniel Vartanian is drawn back into Simon's dark past. A series of recent killings are mimicking an unsolved murder from 13 years ago which is somehow linked to a collection of photographs that belonged to Simon.

With a handful of images as his only lead, Daniel is determined to bring the current murderer to justice and solve the mysterious crime from years ago. His search will lead him back through the dark past of his own family and into the realm of a mind more sinister than he could ever imagine. But his quest will also draw him to Alex Fallon, a beautiful nurse whose troubled past reflects his own - and who is now the object of a murderer's dark obsession. His race to discover the criminal's identity may also be his only chance to save the woman he loves.

Great story . . . Terrible narration

This is the worst job of narration yet from Ms. Gilbert. She makes all the men sound like Donald Duck. Very distracting. It took me out of the story every time one of the male characters spoke.

Love but...

I love most her books but the way she portrays the main female character in most her stories makes me cringe a bit. But that being said, I still own almost all of the audiobooks she has, so it’s worth listening to.

absolutely love!

such a good story and I LOVE the characters. I loved their love story and how they fit together. this is actually one of the first Karen Rose books that I've read that I wasn't able to completely guess who the villan was, so that was awesome. I liked this one soooo much!

Fantastic and exciting listen

Thought this was great although would have rather give 4 1/2 stars! I haven't ever read or listened to this author before but I was not lost not felt that I should have read the book before this one. There were only a few little problems that frustrated me at first (probably due to watching too much Criminal Minds and Law and Order SVU) but I got over it (with the amount of people that got killed the FBI would have been called and wouldn't you immediately talk to the convicted killer if you thought it was a copy cat killer?). Otherwise it was great. Could totally see this being a movie or tv mini series. Didn't want to put it down. Definitely recommended.

Captivating!

I couldn't stop listening. The story held my attention from the first word. Narrator was good, even her male voices.

Very, very good!

This is the first time I've listened or read anything by this author. I thought this book was very good. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the narrator wasn't that great trying to do men's voices. Otherwise I would highly recommend it.

Suspense and Romance

I have listened to many in this series. Not for the faint at heart. I was excited to this one with a Georgia backdrop, albeit the cities and hospitals are made up. This was chuck full of bad guys and nearly no one to trust. Was great to follow Daniel from the last book as he got to get more closure and find love while investigating the most gruesome of crimes. Great suspense. I just wish they would spring for a male narrator. This one really sucks at male voices.

Excellent story, bad narration

I enjoyed the story but the narration was poor. She kept pronouncing Daniel's name Danielle and her "male" voices sounded like little old ladies. It detracted from the story.

Intense Thriller!

A captivating story with an intriguing plot and engaging characters. I was kept guessing up till the end as to who the bad guys were.

My only con was the narrator. I kept getting confused as to who was talking because the voices didn't match the characters. Frequently the guys sounded like females or whiny. However, the narrator did fairly well with voice inflection. I would have enjoyed the book better if I had read it.
