Number-one New York Times best-selling author Nora Roberts cordially invites you to meet childhood friends Parker, Emma, Laurel, and Mac — the founders of Vows, one of Connecticut’s premier wedding planning companies.
Laurel McBane has always relied on her friends for support, especially when her dream of attending culinary school was almost ruined by her parents’ financial problems. Now Laurel is repaying the kindness of her friends by creating extravagantly luscious tiers of cakes and other confectionary delights that add the perfect touch to their clients’ weddings.
As for romance, Laurel believes in it — in theory. But she’s too low-key to appreciate all the luxuries that other women seem to long for. What she does appreciate is a strong, intelligent man, a man just like Parker’s older brother, Delaney Brown, on whom Laurel has had a mega-crush since childhood.
But some infatuations last longer than others, and Laurel is convinced that the Ivy League lawyer is still out of her reach. Plus, Del is too protective of Laurel to ever cross the line with her, or so she thinks. When Laurel’s quicksilver moods get the better of her — leading to an angry, hot, altogether mind-blowing kiss with Del — she’ll have to quiet the doubts in her mind to turn a moment of passion into forever….

"Passion erupts, but will they be able to make it last? Laurel's tart fairy tale romance offers few surprises, but it's impossible to deny Roberts's flair for sketching likable couples." (Publishers Weekly)
This is the 3rd book in this 4 part series from Nora Roberts and I loved this book just as much as the first two. In this book you follow Laurel the baker at Vows and her journey through life and love. It is not action packed or a mystery, etc but just a great story with relatable characters that you fall in love with. I also like the narrator for this book, she is not the best I have heard but still a great voice for this story. I would recommend this book to people who like romance stories with strong women and men you can’t help but love. I cannot wait for December when the last book in the series comes out and we get to learn more about Parker.
I love Nora roberts and she has not let me down with this one. I was as good and the other two and I look forward too the last one in the series and reading about all the girls wedding. I hope to see this one on the big screen.
My daughter and I dreamed of opperating a business like this one. Maybe that is why I enjoyed it so much. Not a deep book but enjoyable. The narrator doesn't have the range of voices that assist in knowing which character is talking. You have to listen and figure it out. But her voice is pleasant. It was a nice story.
I love these girls! I love their business! I love the men in their lives! I live quite vicariously through their adventures and I look forward to #4, but also with a sadness because I do not look forward to parting with them!
This was my favorite book in the series so far. I was truly hoping to see a story about Delaney. I'm just old fashioned enough to still appreciate a man who wants to take care of a woman.
This book wasn't bad per say, more along the lines of annoying. The wedding and cake talk got really old and because there was so much of it I felt like it took away from Del and Laurel's story.
I also noticed that the narrator of this series uses the same voice for the h/h when it is their book, but when they are in other books she changes their voice. It gets confusing because you are used to Laurel sounding one way in the previous books, but when it came to her book her voice was different.
This may be my favorite of the series so far. Fresh, funny, and sweet. Sets the stage nicely for the fourth and final installment. Nobody tells a story quite like Nora! Well worth the credit.
