Publisher's summary

After a mission goes wrong, Aric Savage is taken prisoner. Half-dead and despairing, he makes a stunning discovery: His Pack-mate Micah Chase, who was reported dead, is a fellow captive. When the Alpha team goes into full-rescue mode, accompanying them is an absolute stunner with sable hair - and a spine of solid steel....

LAPD officer and Psy Dreamwalker Rowan Chase has one priority: her brother Micah's recovery. Still, she can't help but be drawn to Aric, the ruggedly handsome wolf shifter who pleasures her as no man ever has - however fleeting their affair is destined to be. But when Aric's life is endangered, Rowan must ask herself what she's willing to sacrifice in the name of love, for the man fated to be her Bondmate.

Critic reviews

"In a genre with werewolves aplenty, Savage Awakening leads the herd with its strong character development and intensity. The story is well told, with powerful, dominant characters. Dark and sexy, it's hard not to fall in love with the Alpha Pack." ( Romantic Times)

Predictable!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The first part yes; second half, definitely not. Although the book is definitely better than the first, it was predictable at best.

Would you recommend Savage Awakening to your friends? Why or why not?

Not really! I thought that I would be able to get into the series, if I tried listening to the second book, given my dismal review of the first one. Unfortunately, it just didn't work for me.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kirsten Potter’s performances?

No

Was Savage Awakening worth the listening time?

Narrator ruined it. No believable male voice.

The narrator ruined this. Most the time I couldn't tell the difference in her voice for the male lead from the voice of the female lead. These are suppose to be strong alpha males... and they all sound like a husky woman.. and all the characters sound so much alike, it was hard to figure out who was speaking when. Disappointing because the book seem good. But, there was no way I was going to be able to listen to the entire book with this narrator.

OK for a Werewolf story

Would you try another book from J. D. Tyler and/or Kirsten Potter?

Her general plots and characters are not bad, but the immature dialogue can stand improvement. The swearing adolescent macho male werewolf attitude gets tiresome. I like the other characters, and that keeps me coming back for the rest of the series.

Would you recommend Savage Awakening to your friends? Why or why not?

No, I do not think any of my friends would tolerate the immature characters.

Have you listened to any of Kirsten Potter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

same

What would have made this romance irresistible?

If the angry macho males would grow up.

ok.

I lost interest half way through, listen to another book, then came back to finish. action is good, tension was there, but my connection to the characters was missing. they were likeable, but not lovable

Sex, Sex, Sex

I am so disappointed in this book. The first one was quite promising and I was looking forward to this read. The main story line which carries through both books is good, the characters are likeable, and the reader does a really nice job. Sounds like a great formula for a light read when you don't want to think too much. This book however came completely off the tracks when the author decided to use one sex scene after another to fill pages. On top of that the "love" story in this book followed the exact same formula as the first book and is completely overdone in this genre. Come up with something original already!

The bottom line is that I am not interested enough in the story line to live through the sex and love denial crap to read another one of the books in this series. I would suggest the Jane Yellowrock series if you want something with a lot less sex and a strong heroine who deals in the supernatural.

Not as good as book 1 but a keeper

I totally love this alpha pack.. Now we have the events from the end of book one leading this story... Eric gotta pay his dues... He spends all of the beginning of this book held captive and being tested on... I loved his rescue.. Great action scene..

Don't really like his mate... I get she is suppose to be this tough cop but I just don't like her attitude about the whole wolf shifter thing, even when she finds out her brother is a shifter... Also she has been a dream walker her entire life, so why freak out about shifters...

Narration was superb!

Great credit or buy if u plan to invest in all the books in the series... These are not stand alone... Better if read in order... So I recommend credit this one...

Bland and Formulaic

After reading the 1st book in the series, I was under-whelmed and hesitant to continue. Reviews were stronger for the second release so I was hopeful the story would pick up. I did not find that to be the case. The characters are well-developed and that is a plus. The over-arching premise is good and that's what ultimately enticed me to continue. I think it's the pace of the plot that's dragging it down. It's slow and predictable. Also, while I usually like a good dose of sex along with my paranormal romance, I found myself just fast forwarding through those scenes in this book. While the promise is there, ultimately the story just doesn't deliver any excitement. I've been on quite a paranormal listening streak lately, and I can think of at least a half dozen other books I'd rather go listen to again rather than continue in this vein. As far as the narration goes, the narrator has a style of delivery that isn't very nuanced. It's very forceful, deliberate and at times unnecessarily dramatic. While she gives each character a distinct voice which I fully appreciated, there's an overall tone of either derision or disgust with maybe a pinch of anger. So many sentences seemed to end in an implied "G*d d*mn it!" Sometimes that's appropriate for the content of the conversation, most of the time, however, I wanted the narrator to dig deeper and find the nuance and subtlety. Overall, not a horrible book, just horribly average. I'm going to pass on the rest of the series.

I got to listen to K. Potter!

Not as good as #1, it felt rushed. The underlying story is good but barely brought up in this sequel. Lots of quick, fast and hard, with a thank-you at the end! I am interested to listen to more about the creepy villian so I will probably continue on.

Bad Pornography!

What disappointed you about Savage Awakening?

What disappointed me with this series is that its simply pornography. Good story line but mostly nasty words and vivid descriptions of sex!
