Publisher's summary

Indy Savage is a former wild child (okay, maybe not so "former") and current used-bookstore owner. Lee Nightingale is a former bad boy and now runs a private investigation service. Toss together a quiet barista with a not-so-lawful side-business, a crazy Vietnam Vet, a pothead, a drag queen, family and friends who will not mind their own business, a few stun guns, and a bag of diamonds, and mix them all up with some shootings, a high-speed chase and car bombs exploding, then hang on for your first wild Rock Chick ride.

My First Audiobook experience!

My first audiobook experience was awesome. Highly recommend this book and narrator! I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to audio. I had already previously read the book, but excellent way to pass time at work.

Totally Love This Series

Where does Rock Chick rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's difficult for me to rank series books when I am interested enough to read or listen to the entire series.....and it generally doesn't take long for me to complete the series....Rock Chick Series took me about 10 days to finish. Thus....I became totally engrossed. Even more so for this series because Denver was my haunt for over 20 years and I know all the places that are described in the books......and Kristen clearly experienced many of the experiences that I enjoyed. I found myself within the setting of each of the books in the series and become so engrossed that for that moment in time the Rock Chick series sat at the top of books I have listened to and enjoyed.

What did you like best about this story?

The Denver Setting.....I worked at Denver Health :) And I LOVE, totally LOVE Barolo Grill....don't forget the staff at Barolo Grill take time in the year to travel to Italy for inspiration and close the restaurant for a week or two. Or at least have done that in the past!

Which scene was your favorite?

I am reviewing the series in its entirety rather than focusing on Rock Chick and my favorite scene was in Rock Chick Revolution when Darius Tucker (who had just been through a terrible ordeal and surgical procedures) asks to see Ally Nightingale and what he says to her when he sees her was brilliant! However, the entire series is filled with episodes that make me break out laughing or tearing up and making the "ugly face". I was traveling during that time and people next to me on airplanes, airports, or glanced at me traveling in a car.....gave me very interesting looks.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Any additional comments?

Keep it up Kristen!

Love this series!

Have read all KA books! Each series has its own tone, voice, type of men and woman...all have crazy action, hilarity, snarkiness, etc. If you are liike me...K have to read series in order...start with this series, then Dream Men, then Chaoes. (At some point u need to mix in the Colorado Men and the Unfinished Heroes books. Easiest to look up reading order or read by publication date of print.) Wild ride! Love every book and have read each series more than 10 times.

Lee and Indy

My friend had been hounding me for months to give Kristen Ashley books a listen to and she had been stressing to start with the Rock Chick series. I assumed it was a series about a rock band. I finally gave in and started my new apeal for KA books. It was a little daunting at first to see how long this book (and most her books) are. They are a long listen, but that is because she really gets deep into building characters and scenes so you feel like you are sitting there in that book with them. At times I found some of the thoughts, comments or scenes ridiculous or too far fetched, but you know what...this is a book, it's not real. It's for you to take a break from reality and get lost in some fiction.

This book is filled with lots of comedy, action (drug dealers, stalkers & car bombs), drama and really hot sex. I really enjoyed the banter and chemistry between these two. Indy has been in love with Lee, her BFF's brother, since she was 5. Lee has been attracted to Indy for almost as long but has always pushed Indy, and her numerous advances through the years, away. It just wasn't the right time (according to him). Then when it was the right time she had given up on the idea of them and avoided him for years. When Indy gets into some trouble he finally sees an opportunity to make his move. So begins the wild ride of Lee and Indy and thier road to thier HEA.

I had never listened to Susannah Jones but I thought she did a fantastic job with each individual character whether they were male or female and there were a lot of characters.

LOVE THIS BOOK!

This book reminds me why I love Kristen Ashley! She has a way of writing the perfect mix of witty, sarcastic characters and scary, suspenseful drama and including the perfect amount of sexy time! I loved everything about this book!!! The only thing I wish was different is I wish there was another book about this couple... I feel like their story isn't over and I definitely need more!

The narration was AMAZING! Susannah Jones did so good with all of the sarcasm and wit that this book has!

Smiling and laughing

Loved this....smiled and laughed throughout the book. I was so surprised, I liked another set of books by KA....so I read the reviews (I don't usually follow these but wanted a basic idea). So very happy and worth the purchase. Plan on getting all the others in the series. I like romantic comedy and this just that!

Susannah Jones makes this series

If you could sum up Rock Chick in three words, what would they be?

30 something smut

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

This book has great fringe characters like Tex and the bad guys. The main characters are fairly two dimensional; beautiful, hot, perfect bodies, fun. I felt like I was reading about the boring high school in-crowd, grown up and still superficial. I wanted to know more about the funny sidekicks. I was excited that a quirky fringe character was the main character of the next book, but in the first chapter provided at the end of this book, she quickly becomes a little predictable as well. The plot wasn't really a big part of the book. The author does write good smut.

What about Susannah Jones’s performance did you like?

For an audiobook that has only one narrator, this was as good as I've heard. Her characters' voices weren't over the top but it was clear who was speaking. Her speaking voice is very easy to listen to, no tongue clicking or anything hard to hear and her cadence is perfect.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Oh gosh, please don't make a movie from this book.

Any additional comments?

I know I sound a little negative about the book in general, as it is not a literary work of art, but if you like romance books and want modern, hip characters, you'll like this book and again the narrator does a fabulous job.

Really good start to the series :)

4-4.5 stars

This was a really good story. I really liked Lee and Indy and the secondary characters in the story are great as well. This was definitely good enough that I'll be continuing the series.

Indy Savage is the daughter of a cop. She's sassy and spunky and likes to live life to the fullest. She's also very kind and tends to take care of people. I really liked Indy. Her best friend is Ally Nightingale, Lee's sister. Indy fell in love with Lee at the age of 5 and she tried to get him to notice her for years. After one rejection too many she stops trying and starts avoiding him. This is 10 years later...

Lee Nightingale is an interesting character. At first I wasn't sure what to make of him because his character was very laconic. When he does an abrupt about face and suddenly wants Indy, it's kind of hard to figure out his motivation. He then starts blaming her for them hardly speaking for the last 10 years and I thought he was out of line. But Lee does end up being a good guy. He becomes more vocal and I have to admit he grows on me more as the story progresses.

Lee and Indy bash heads over and over because he's bossy and she never lets anyone boss her around but even then you can see they're really kind of perfect for each other. At first Indy has trouble trusting him because he's been a player and she doesn't want to get her heart shredded. Fortunately Lee's serious and pushes things as fast as he can. They have years of history and know so much about each other so it makes it easy to slip past the steps normal couples have to take but Indy does tend to freak when things go too fast. Lee is a "take no prisoners" type of guy and tells Indy under no uncertain terms what he wants and the future he expects...with her. It's fun and gratifying to see them figure out their relationship and admit their feelings for each other. I found it to be a very enjoyable part of the story.

While the Lee & Indy's romance starts and progresses, the action plot keeps things interesting as well. There's an issue with Indy's employee being hunted down for diamonds, and one of the criminals looking for the diamonds decides to take a fancy to Indy and starts trying to woo her not matter how unwanted his advances are. Indy does indeed get kidnapped multiple times (among other things). Her headstrong nature does tend to get her in trouble a few times but danger plagues her even when she's trying to stay safe. Lee, his men (that work for him at Nightingale Investigations) and her friends help keep her safe and while the issues are settled.

There's a lot going on in this story and it was never boring. I was engaged from the start and had trouble stopping until the end (I just finished reading it and my bed is calling me while I write this review). I loved the characters and can't wait to see the whole gang in the next book in the series (which I'm reading next up). I'd recommend this book. 2 thumbs up! :D
