Publisher's summary

Indy Savage is a former wild child (okay, maybe not so "former") and current used-bookstore owner. Lee Nightingale is a former bad boy and now runs a private investigation service. Toss together a quiet barista with a not-so-lawful side-business, a crazy Vietnam Vet, a pothead, a drag queen, family and friends who will not mind their own business, a few stun guns, and a bag of diamonds, and mix them all up with some shootings, a high-speed chase and car bombs exploding, then hang on for your first wild Rock Chick ride.

Rock Chick

I really expected this to be a dud audiobook but it was wonderful! Loved the connection with the two families. I liked the drama along with the romance!

Great Book/Poor Performance

What did you love best about Rock Chick?

I loved the story.

What did you like best about this story?

How Indie had loved Liam since she was 5 when he held her hand at her mom's funeral.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I'm glad the author, Kristen Ashley, denotes who is speaking in her books as the narrator intonations did not change. If Ms. Ashley had not written who was speaking, I would have been utterly lost.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. It was a good story. However, the narrator needs to do a better job.

Any additional comments?

My problem with some of these audio books is the narration. I have a problem with J.R. Ward's audio books too. If you have men and women speaking parts, why are there not men and women narrators? I think Davina Porter (Diana Gabaldon's Outlander novels' narrator) does a supremely good job with her men and women. She also does great with her accents and the pronunciation of non-English words (i.e. Gaelic, French, Italian). I wish these authors (or their publishing houses) would put the money into their audio books and hire more narrators.

Enjoyable, but don't think I'll continue...

Rock Chick was a enjoyable ride, albeit a little slow. I don't think I'll be continuing the series and the first book did not do enough to grab my attention.

Fun story but two dimensional characters

I was very disappointed with is book. I have read a few different authors who write this style and do it well - fun, fast paced humour, action - unfortunately this was not one of them. The lead character was written as a superficial air head with attachment issues and her love interest was written as a toxic male character that borderlines abusive and controlling. Neither character had any substance. I have pushed through towards the end because the story itself was ok and the narrator is excellent, but with 2 hours to go I am out and moving on.

Awesome book!

This is the first book in one of my favorite series! I have listened to over again several times. Humor, action, and strong female characters!

5 Rock Chick Star

I have read, and re read this series this is the 4th time I think. But I never reviewed it. One because I didn’t think I could say all the things I love about each book without it being a novel in and of itself. But figured I should give it a shot.

India Savage or Indy has been in love with Liam Nightingale or Lee as we call him since she was 5 yrs old.

Lee has a brother Hank who is a cop and a sister Ally who is a part time employee at Fortnum’s the used book story Indy owns, and bar tends. Ally and Indy are the besties to end all besties. And they would scheme and plan calling it The Great Liam Chase how it would be if Indy ever married her brother. And they did this up until Lee at 23 told Indy 20 he only though of her as a sister.

‘Lee Nightingale had gone from a bonfire to a towering f * * ng inferno in ten years.’ - Indy

Now, Lee is tired of waiting he wants Indy and he put himself in the right path to make it happen. She was too young then, but she isn’t now. Oh but Indy doesn’t not make it easy on Lee at all. No way, no how.

Holy shit! He was already telling other people! And I hadn’t even agreed!
“I’m not yours!”
“You will be tonight.”

Oh Lee.. Sigh

I think I like that best about this book. She was afraid to love as much as she does. I think because she lost her mom so young, this made her afraid to love that much.

“Yes! Of Course I love you, you big dope! I’ve loved you since I was five!” - Indy

The wit is freaking outstanding in this book. The music and movie references are epic. But I think the gem for me is Tex, the ex-con, ex-army, cat loving, coffee god.

He truly steals the show for me, he has such a huge heart you can’t help but want to be besties with him. Or at least I do.. Hey maybe that makes me weird and that’s alright.

Then there is also Stevie and Tod, Indy’s next door neighbors. Not only are they awesome because they take care and look out for Indy but they have a chow and gave her the best name ever! Chowleena, but not only that Tod is the top drag queen in Denver, awesome!!

“Tell me again why you don’t want him in your panties?” – Stevie - Ha ha!

I listened to the audiobook and wow, I can't even tell you how awesome it is. I think this narrator is my all time favorite. She is so expressive. She is perfect for these books!!

In love with this series so far!!

kristen ashley has become one of my favorite authors hands down, she never disappoints. This book is hilarious I laugh through out the entire book. India is the kind of girl I would definitely hang out with, shes fun, funny and adventurous. The chemistry between her and Lee was hot!! It was a fun read I recommend it, it will not disappoint.
