Publisher's Summary

Featuring two connected stories from Nora Roberts and J. D. Robb: Remember When and Big Jack.

Laine Tavish is an ordinary woman living an ordinary life in the small town of Angel's Gap, Maryland, as the proprietor of Remember When, an antique treasures and gift shop. At least, that's what everyone in Angel's Gap thinks. They have no idea that she used to be Elaine O'Hara, daughter of the notorious con man Big Jack O'Hara. Or that she grew up moving from place to place, one step ahead of the law.

Laine's past has just caught up with her, though - in a very dramatic way. Her long-lost uncle suddenly turned up in her shop, leaving only a cryptic warning before dying in the street, run down by a car. Soon afterward, her home is ransacked. Now it's up to Laine, and a sexy stranger named Max Gannon, to find out who's chasing her and why.

The answer lies in a hidden fortune - a fortune that will change not only Laine's life but also the lives of future generations. And danger and death will surround that fortune for years to come - until New York City detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas gets on the case.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

"If you've read or listened to Big Jack don't buy!"

I've purchased every In Death book audible has available. I love Susan Ericksen as Eve Dallas. As much as I like the books I would not purchase this one unless you have not listened to Big Jack. If you have read or listened to Big Jack that's all part 2 is. Part 1 is a decent story in itself. It's just the prequel to Big Jack and has nothing to do with Eve and the rest of the gang. So, I've now purchased the same story twice.

    "Interesting Duo"

Remember When is actually two separate stories, one in current time about a diamond hiest and a second story in which Eve Dallas is involved. The second story is related to the first story. A former reviewer said to read this book prior to number 17 due to Summerset, the butler's, return. However, I STRONGLY advise you to read this book after number 17 because of the Peabody story arc. If you read this one prior to number 17 it spoils the surprise. I enjoyed the Eve Dallas part better than the first part. Another great story by JD Robb!

    "Incorrect number"

This should really be numbered as 16.5 as the In-Death part of the two books actually occurs before 17 in terms of the progression of the relationship and overall story of Roark and Dallas. Summerset, the butler, is still on vacation, whereas in 17 he returns. So if you listen to it as 17.5, and after 17 as indicated, you will hear that Summerset hasn't returned from vacation yet, even though he returned in 17.

    "Remember When"

I always like Nora Roberts but this book is so boring. Very disappointed. I down loaded it for vacation I'll remember the vacation but not this book.

    "Now and the Future"

This is a interesting book the way that it is put together. Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb together in one book. The first half of the book is present day Maryland. A robbery took place in New York and one of the players have come to a little town in Maryland to get help from Laine Tavish. Laine Tavish does not know the man when he comes in to her shop, after his death she finds that it was her Uncle. But know the other players in this robbery are looking for her, to find out just what she knows. Things start to go bad for Laine and her whole world that she has built for herself may come to an end. Mix in this first half of the book is a loves story, that twist and turns. The first story ends with only part of the diamonds found. The second half of the book is written by J.D. Robb, in the year 2059, New York City. The granddaughter of Laine Tavish has written a book about her grandparents and the diamonds. Right after this book is published people start to die, the only connection is to Samantha Gannon, Laine Tavish's granddaughter. Dallas and her team must find out who is murdering people around this old robbery, her best idea is to finding this person is trying to find the lost diamonds. Thinking that if she finds them she will find the person that wants them enough to kill.
The story is wonderful, I love the two different stories being put together in one book. I also like how Nora Roberts writes both halves of the book. Who better to write a book with then your other pin name. Susan Ericksen is does a wonderful job with the narration of this book. Ericksen has become one of my favorite narrators, her narrations are constantly great.

    "Hooked on In Death"
Would you consider the audio edition of Remember When (includes 'Big Jack': In Death, Book 17.5) to be better than the print version?

I don't buy print version books anymore. It saves me room.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to the first 22 books and to me each one is unique and equally good.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was laughing out loud-- glad I was alone!

    Any additional comments?

I'm absolutely hooked on the series. Love them all!

    "not bad for a romance"

Listenable and kept me interested. Certainly not up for an Audie, but it kept me around while I was doing other things. Of course, you have to like the whole romantic mystery genre to put up with it. Not a waste of $15.

    "Best of Both Worlds!!"

The book starts out as from the writing of Nora Roberts..romantic, funny, sexy, intense. The characters are wonderful & fall in love at first sight. It also has a great element of suspense. That story ends with a slight cliffhanger .
But , magically, picks up 50+ years later in the year 2059 as written by JD Robb!! Some of the same characters carry over plus their grandchildren. Awesome, delightful story!!

Would I Read Future Books by this Author? ABSOLUTELY!!!
Would I Reread This Book? ABSOLUTELY!!
This narrator does all of the Robb books. She is excellent. Roark's voice is musical with his Irish lilt!! And Peabody's is very distinctive. She is just plain terrific!!
Overall, I could not be happier with this experience. Oh, no disc changing!! A+

"Great stories; narration not what expected"

The stories were great. I love the connection between the time periods.
The narration for Big Jack was great. They were all new characters.
The narration for In Death was not at the quality I expected from the series. They came across "watered-down".
