Jacque Pierce was just an ordinary 17-year-old girl getting ready to start her senior year of high school in Coldspring, Texas. When a mysterious foreign exchange student from Romania moves in across the street, Jacque and her two best friends, Sally and Jen, don't realize the last two weeks of their summer are going to get a lot more interesting. From the moment Jacque sets eyes on Fane she feels an instant connection; a pull like a moth to a flame. Little does she know that the flame she is drawn to is actually a Canis Lupus, werewolf, and she just happens to be his mate, the other half of his soul.
The problem is, Fane is not the only wolf in Coldspring, Texas. Just as Fane and Jacque are getting to know each other, another wolf steps out to try and claim Jacque as his mate. Fane will now have to fight for the right to complete the mating bond, something that is his right by birth but is being denied him by a crazed Alpha. Will the love Fane has for Jacque be enough to give him the strength to defeat his enemy? And will Jacque accept that she is Fane's mate and complete the bond between them?

If the author didn't make Jen sound like an old hag witch, I would have enjoyed it a lot more. I dreaded hearing Jen speak throughout the whole book. Don't know if I could purchase the rest of the series because of this.
I love Sally the best because she was always the one to mediate the other two or keep them grounded.
I will never ever listen to any of her narrations. I hope that her narrations for the Grey Wolves Series can be changed because this will definitely be the breaking point for anyone interested in purchasing this audio book. Until that happens, I won't be purchasing the rest of the series.
Change the narrator. People would enjoy it a lot better and my rating will definitely go up. She's the reason this audio book is a 2. I rated this book on amazon after I read it and I gave it a 5. I gave this a 2 because I still like the story but hate cringing every time I hear Jen's lines. The narrator also made Sally sound like a little boy mouse. If that's even possible. Just had to put it out there so other potential listeners can be warned before "jumping the bullet" -- reference to Fane
The narration of the female characters left a lot to be desired. The teenagers (older teenagers) sounded more like they were pre-teens! Big tuneoff......
I did enjoy the story but it was really hard to listen to. I don't want to be harsh but the narration was horrible.
I am so confused! I can't tell if it's the readers performance or the writing. Probable A little of both. I feel like the characters are all over the place! The girls at different times sound like people who live in the 70s with all the right on's, far outs and what not. Oh and I don't get Texans at all she did sprinkle a few y'alls in I guess. Also, no 17-year-old knows that many old shows I don't like all the nicknames they have for each other and I feel like ALL the girls are shallow spoiled brats and the men are all over the place. She acts like a bratty 12 yr old most of the time while he is just this crazy in love pup who takes it. I am annoyed I bought the whole series to listen to. I am rarely this dissatisfied with a series. This is my first review after 2 years of audio books as a mail carrier.....so that explains a little.
living is what I love to do...... So loving life and taking care of myself is on the top of my list.
I love the reading in the beginning I have to get use to the narrating I had to figure out who was Jen or Sally but still a great read for the hopeless romantics 🙂
A bookworm since a child. Love audible books.
The story was different than other books that I have read. It has fairly well developed characters and plot. Never boring. Romantic without being trashy. This book is alot of fun to listen to.
Fane needs to fight for Jacque. I don't want to give spoilers.
When Jacque seen Fane after the fight. I don't want to give spoilers.
This book is about unconditional love and a bond between two characters.
Sorry. I am usually game for fantasy and pretty flexible, but this is over the top.
"Oh, my mate happens to live across the street!" "I can buy a motorcycle by myself at age 17." "My enemy is at the first place I go shopping." " My friends don't seem to be concerned that I am mentally communicating with my true love." And on and on. Not believable, sadly. I can't even finish...and that's really rare!!
"Pretty good YA"
The characters behave their age without being overdone. The plot moves at a good pace with lots of action, ups and downs. Jen and Sally as comic relief just crack me up though sometimes I want Jen to shut up so we can hear what comes next. The writing is pretty simple but effective and the narration was good. All in all, I'm on to Bk 2!
"Great Book , fabulous series"
Loved the book before I bought the audio. Great narration, it added another level of depth to the story. Unfortunately, for me, the voice of Jen really grated, in reading the series I got the idea of someone with sharp caustic wit and the husky gritty voice sounded more like someone who had smoked for 40 years and was a bit drunk. Maybe it says her voice is husky and I forgot about it, but it didn't gel for me hence 4* rating. Saying that, the voices of Kane and Jacque were spot on making me feel like I really know these people.
"A wonderful story"
This is a great story, full of young love, a fight to the death, girls with attitude , oh and of course werewolves . This is a fantastic story well worth a listen.
