Publisher's summary

Lucy Ashton had long ago given up her quest for true love. In the rarified society of Victorian England, Lucy plays the game—flirting, dancing, and dabbling in the newly fashionable spiritualism. Even marrying when—and who—she’s supposed to. If the stuffy Duke of Sussex cannot spark the passion she craves, he can at least give her a family, a home of her own, and a place to belong. But when her polite marriage reveals a caring and sensual man, Lucy begins to wonder if she can indeed have it all.

But Lord Sussex is not the man the London ton has come to admire. And Lucy has some ghosts of her own, as well. Thus, when a blackmail scheme turns to threats of danger, the newfound peace of the Sussex marriage is cast upon the rocks. Passion has a price, Lucy learns. And not all ghosts stay buried.

Good serious and a solid romance.

This was a pretty good book. A little slow at times and your forced to get the next book if you want to know what will happen.

Wonderful

I was completely captivated by this sensual, exciting story. The characters are believable and endearing, especially Sussex. There is plenty of romance and an exciting mystery. Most of all, I enjoyed the reader's performance. The way she performs the dialog, with so much emotion and real feeling, made me feel that I could see these characters in my mind so clearly. I listened to the whole story in two days!

Cliffhanger

Where does Pride & Passion rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very intriguing and gripping. One of the better audio books I have read.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the plot, the mystery, the true passion and love described, and how you can truly love another and share your soul with them.

What does Rebecca de Leeuw bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

the drama in her reading was exceptional. you could really FEEL the characters, their emotions and passions. The voiceovers were great!!!

Any additional comments?

Although I enjoyed this book immensely. It is a cliffhanger. You know who Orpheus is; or at least one thinks they do. I wanted more. I wanted a true conclusion. I was looking to see if it was part of a series because it ended slightly abruptly. Still....a very enjoying book. Loved the story, the plot, Ms. de Leeuw was simply fantastic. Thanks for such a great book.

Good story but....

Very good story but at the end it was cut off. This makes me wonder if there will be a part two to finish the story? Will have to look into this. People that enjoy historical romance with some intrigue will enjoy the story.

Intense Passion and Mystery

Ms. Feathestone has delivered a book of equal parts mystery and passion. In particular, the love scenes are vivid and enticing. The narrator, Rebecca de Leeuw, is absolutely perfect with subtle but effective changes in her voice to denote the different characters. However, the ending is truly a "cliff hanger" and I don't believe there is a sequel. Absolutely wonderful until the end.

Pretty Lame Book

The writing, in my opinion, is juvenile and over dramatic. Plus the author does not explain why Lucy was so opposed to the Duke - just stated that she did not like him at all. The ending is, well, not an ending. A major cliffhanger that I do not care enough about to see what happens. They can all fall off the cliff as far as I am concerned.

Superb

I love Bianca Amato’s narration especially in the Husband Trap. She is wonderful in bringing each character to life. The story was also very engaging. I did not see the plot twist coming at the end. I was so absorbed that I finished the book almost entirely through non-stop. Now the next book is a must. Can’t wait to see what happens. I am just a bit disappointed that the narrator is different in the 1st and 3rd book in the series. ☹
