Samuel Clearwater, aka Preppy, likes bowties, pancakes, suspenders, good friends, good times, good drugs, and a good f--k.
He's worked his way out from beneath a hellish childhood and is living the life he's always imagined for himself. When he meets a girl, a junkie on the verge of ending it all, he's torn between his feelings for her and the crippling fear that she could be the one to end the life he loves.
Andrea 'Dre' Capulet is strung out and tired.
Tired of living for her next fix. Tired of doing things that make her stomach turn. Tired of looking in the mirror at the reflection of the person she's become. Just when she decides to end it all, she meets a man who will change the course of both their lives forever.
And their deaths.
For most people, death is the end of their story.
For Preppy and Dre, death was only the beginning.

I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
Well I thought I knew Preppy from the previous books when he came across as nerdy, charming, funny, social, sweet, sexy and a bit crazy too.. but underneath his colorful bow ties and suspenders he's very damaged and broken.. and his story is a heartbreaking one. He covers up the pain from his dark past with good friends, good lays, good times, drugs and living his life from day to day without any expectations. Then he rescues the drugged up Andrea (aka Dre) who is equally damaged and equally broken and she's ready to end it all - but Preppy has other plans for her.
And this is the start of a dysfunctional romance because Preppy knows he's emotionally broken and he just can't keep Dre but that doesn't stop him from trying to save her from her first love.. Heroine. Dre knows she's hit rock bottom but slowly the crazy, demanding, hot and very sensual Preppy saves her - but it comes at a price.. her heart.
Multi-layered complex characters, a highly charged emotionally fraught storyline, some smokin hot rough sex scenes, dialogue that flowed naturally, good character development, humor, angst, drama and, out of the depths of despair, there was love. But the timing was all wrong because we're going to have to wait til the release of book 2 in Jan/Feb next year.. or even book 3 before we find out if/or how Preppy is going to come back from the grave to claim his HEA with Dre. Chapters were flashbacks to the past or present day scenes, dual POV and great narration.
Worth a credit? TM Frazier has written another riveting story to add to this gritty series and her ability to write such an emotionally deep storyline, emotionally damaged characters and an emotionally charged love story leaves me in awe of her talents. So, YES a very gripping and creditworthy listen.

WOW, YES SHE DID IT TO US AGAIN!! The cliffhanger...UGH... even knowing it was coming it's still killing me!
Obviously I love Preppy and I am so glad that the author jumped back & forth between now and then. I loved that we got to see what Preppy had going on from the beginning of this series when he wasn't present in the other books. We get to see a deeper side of him for sure. I think what I love so much about this series is that these guys are all so raw and rough but they all have a little bit of a soft side...and I mean a little bit lol. Preppy's story was painful, Hot and even a little sweet all in one. I can't wait for Part 2.
Ok so narration... While I liked Lance Greenfield's narration, he just wasn't the right Preppy for me. I agree that Preppy needed his own voice but after the wildish almost a little nerdish voice that Preppy had in the last 4 books, his voice in this book was a little to mellow I think. I would love to listen to him narrate more books that fit his tone better. Kirsten Leigh was great for Andrea!
I just have to roll my eyes and say 'really' when someone writes in a review that a fiction book was not realistic...come on now 'really'
We meet Preppy in the first book King. Preppy and King become best friends in high school and have been inseparable since. We know that Preppy started their Granny-Grow-House business while King was in prison. In the books King and Tyrant there's never a mention of a love interest for Preppy...he's always been a free spirited lover.
Dre is a heroine addict. Her grandmother owns one of Preppy's Granny-Grow-Houses. Dre and two other guys are stealing Preppy's plants and vandalizing equipment when Preppy shows up. They take off out the window and Preppy goes after them. The guys get away but Dre doesn't. This is their story...
Because of a reported cliffhanger...It took a couple of weeks for me to decide to go ahead and listen to the first book instead of waiting until the second book came out. I'm glad I went ahead and listened. It's more of a to-be-continued than a cliffhanger.
T.M. Frazier has a jewel in this series. Lance Greenfield just brings Preppy to life and has you loving him. Kirsten Leigh makes you feel Dre's anguish and disparity.
Worth credit/$$ Absolutely. Looking forward to book 2.
Preppy can be a stand alone. Listen to King and Tyrant and you won't be missing out on the comradely, love, loyalty, understanding and respect all the characters have for each other and you for them.
Audio Reviewer under Audio Flow. I enjoy delving into the imagination of writers and hearing it read aloud by seasoned and new audio actors.
This was a sexy yet disturbing book. Dark drama at its best where the end will have you cursing the day you read it before the series is complete!
I cannot express how much I enjoy reading/listening to Frazier's books. She always develops a story so intricately that you get totally caught up, and sucker punched. The characters are crazy, but you can't help but love them and all their baggage.
Our beloved, bowtie wearing, pancake making, hype man is back to tell his story. I didn't expect any of it. As with most Frazier books I was left with the ultimate mind f...
What I loved most about Preppy's story was I got to delve a little deeper into his mind. Got a glimpse of his childhood and what makes him tick. It was eye opening to hear the details.
Kirsten Lee's performance is always exceptional. I think she truly understands Frazier's characters. I can always feel the raw emotion. There is one scene that was so amazing she deserves an award. You will know it when you hear it. Lance Greenfield is new to me. Although he was not the voice of Preppy that I was accustomed to, I believe his interpretation of Preppy was good. His sarcastic tones and humor helped give Preppy his own voice.

…..And this is just the beginning of Preppy's journey!
I have fallen in love with this series and T.M. Frazier's writing style. Like others who have been following King, I have been anxiously waiting to hear Preppy's story. True to Frazier's unique style, it was just as riveting, intense, and had a few shocking twist I've come to expect from her. Frazier's world building skills is amazing, the plots are vivid, intense and keeps you guessing and the character development is top notch. They are flawed, damaged, realistic and have colorful personalities. While these stories end on a cliffhanger, I'm completely invested and look forward to hearing the rest of their stories.
From the first book, I have been intrigued and fascinated with Preppy's character. Whether he was dead or alive, he's been an important influence to his closest friends and was never far from their thoughts. He's survived a past that has wrapped him into the unapologetic man who will appall you with some of his depraved, sadistic thoughts and actions, but will also crack your heart a little each time you see a little bit more of his vulnerable side and the random acts of goodness he does for others. Even with his past, he's funny and l love all his quick witty charm.
I do have to admit, I had change in narrator blues. I really missed Molly Glenmore and Rob Shapiro's performance. However, I don't know if it was the amazing story or if I adjusted to Lance Greenfield and Kirsten Leigh quickly, but I found myself totally engrossed by this audio and listened to it almost non-stop so I have no complaints with either Greenfield or Leigh performance. They really delivered on the plot, dialogue and characters.
I loved this story! There's no question in my mind if it's worth the time and credit; it's absolutely worth both even with the dreaded cliffhanger. (This cliffhanger wasn't as intense as some of the others in the series, but I'm hooked on the stories and looking forward to the next installment to Preppy's story.)
If you have not started this series, and like dark, intense romances, please do not miss out on this series. It's great! Download them all!
Once again, Frazier delivers. The highly anticipated Preppy was everything it promised to be and so much more. Can't wait for the next!
Cannot wait for the next Preppy Book. Learning about the beginning of his story with Dre was just what the Doctor Ordered. I am looking so forward to his next book. Shortest time spent on any book. Could not stop listening.
I want to give this book 100 stars! Initially I was so emotionally turned upside down from Preppy's 'first death' in Bear's story I didn't even want to get this book, I really didn't, but TM Frazier knows how to write an epic story with all the dark and light life can bring. I cried at the end of this, CRIED, like a newborn! I will be counting the seconds until book two is available. Be warned, this story is painful, but incredible. You've got to get it.
I am an avid reader, not a professional book reviewer. I gladly offer my opinion of the books I read/listen to.
I am an avid fan of Ms. Frazier. However, I have to admit I was a skeptic that she could pull off Preppies story... because if you followed this series you know he was a force to be reckoned with in a sociopathic kind of way. Frazier tends to bring scary, gritty characters to life and has you somehow identifying with them despite their violent, predatory and sometimes abhorrent behavior. This book was no exception. I was prepared to not like the larger than life character or his sexually dysfunctional tendencies, however Ms. Frazier again has managed to surprise me by fleshing out this character and showing a side that ironically enough anyone can identify with. The synopsis of the story does not give it justice. I am not going into any detail of the story line except to say that the characters are well developed, human, and flawed. Bravo Ms. Frazier for once again giving us a different, relevant character in this series. You have managed to keep the story line fresh, gritty, violent, and at time heartbreaking. This series is unlike any series on the market and I highly recommend reading AND listening to every book in this King series!
If u follow this series then you will not be disappointed. It's worth the credit!!!
"Preppy coming to life"
I loved this audio of my little preppy not only did the story capture me from the beginning hearing Preppy come to life was amazing.
This book should have been Narrated by same guy that done the 1st 4 books in this series, that voice was unique & perfect to Preepy's character. Having a different narrator took me out of the book I did not like it :(
"You can't help but love Preppy"
When I saw that this book had been published, I was a little dubious. I was wrong to be. The story weaves together well and it is so good to hear Preppy- I couldn't stop smiling. He is every bit as f****ed-up and wonderful as I hoped he would be. Couldn't put this down.
