Brighton, 1855. As a member of the Order of the Round Table, Kendall Lake is overqualified to be investigating strange phenomena at a seaside photography studio. But since the photographer is related to the Order's most powerful sorcerer, Kendall reluctantly boards a dirigible to Brighton.
Amy Deland is haunted by a shadow that appears in some of her recent portraits. In each case, the subject died within days of the sitting. Does she have her grandmother's gift of foresight, or has she somehow caused the deaths?
As Kendall and Amy search for answers, their investigation draws them together in a most improper way - but it seems the evil presence in the studio is determined to keep them apart.

Couldn't do it. I have patience with bad or talentless narrators, thin story lines, weak plots, and even lousy phrasing. I barely tolerate miss pronunciation but try to take it in stride. All in all it takes a lot to make me say 'no'. But I do. I have given two bad reviews ever and felt very strongly in order to do it... mostly if I have nothing good to say I try to keep it to myself, everyone has different taste, so unless I thought there was something I just had to say I say little. Yet.... I say no. Not dramatic, traumatic, or even very emphatic. .. but it's a no. Keep your pennies.
I"m a audible addict. My eyes have gotten really bad so I really hadn't read much in the last 10 years until I discoverd books on CD and Audible. Now I'm a fiend. Other than audio books I enjoy my family, work and dabbling on the computer.
I enjoyed the story even though it was such a short listen. Kendall and Amy were a love at first sight. The author always gives wonderful details and although these are steampunk and not 100% historically correct, they are as true to the times as they can be and still stay true to this type of book.
The narrator was very good as well.. Nice pleasant voice and deeper than normal for male parts of the book. I think she did well with the story.
These can be read out of order but you'll feel so much more in tune if you start with Steam & Sorcery. ENJOY!!
