GOODREADS AUTHOR OF THE YEAR NOMINEE, 2012

Too hot to handle....

Tabitha Allen grew up in the thick of Chaos—the Chaos Motorcycle Club, that is. Her father is Chaos' leader, and the club has always had her back. But one rider was different from the start. When Tabby was running wild, Shy Cage was there. When tragedy tore her life apart, he helped her piece it back together. And now, Tabby's thinking about much more than friendship....

Tabby is everything Shy's ever wanted, but everything he thinks he can't have. She's beautiful, smart, and as his friend's daughter, untouchable. Shy never expected more than friendship, so when Tabby indicates she wants more—much more—he feels like the luckiest man alive. But even lucky men can crash and burn....

buy the book instead, horrible narrating

I don't honestly know if I like this book or not. Sadly, I'm having to buy the ebook to read it on top of my audible purchase because the narration was so horrible.
it sounds like a robot is reading this. There are very few parts where any inflection is heard, and trying to get into a bad - boy biker character's head when he sounds like a robot cussing just kept pulling me out of the story. I can't believe the author/publisher would release an audio book done this poorly.

Another hot MC read

Any additional comments?

This was an audio book for me. I really enjoyed the spin off from Motorcycle Man (Dream Man). Tabitha grew up in the MC life in the Dream Man series. This series begins with her as an adult and her relationship with Shy, a member of her father's MC.

This story flowed just as smoothly as the first series. I probably would have enjoyed it more and would have given it 5 stars had I just read it and not had it as an audio book.

COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT, BUT .......

What did you like best about Own the Wind? What did you like least?

I thought the whole biker club premise could have been a great experience especially for those of us who know virtually nothing about the "family" dynamics of a motorcycle club such as this book tells about. However, I thought the writing was a bit juvenile. I get that bikers have their own language and "ways", but Tabby's repeat of the same phrases over and over got a bit annoying and childish phrases the adults used were a bit grating.

What I liked best was the whole camaraderie of the brothers/sisters/family and that this is the beginning of the series; maybe the next book will be a bit more "grown-up".

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I thought it was great and left you knowing that there is more to come.

What didn’t you like about Angela Starling’s performance?

Her performance didn't spoil my listen as have other narrators in the past, but she was a long way from stellar. With the exception of Tyra's voice (a bit on the southern accent side) and Tabby's little girl voice, the voices, especially the male ones, tended to all sound alike. A man who does good female voices should really have narrated this book since most of the voices were male. My opinion.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Not sure.

The most atrocious audiobook of all time.

Where does Own the Wind rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is not Own the Wind this is a story unbelievably ruined by Angela Starling.
LOVE KA
LOVE OWN THE WIND

What other book might you compare Own the Wind to and why?

Ride Steady another KA gem.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Angela Starling please for the love of god consider another career. It was painful and funny in such a bad way. Completely monotone. Robotic. Like hard shiny cold steel. Someone check her pulse. She'd be great if she was say the voice of Siri.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

To horrible funny tears when a beloved character like Tyra Masters was given a country twang the kind of which this Texan has never heard before. Tyra is from OHIO. Seriously I'll pay for a ticket so Ms.Starling can go hear what they sound like!

Any additional comments?

I dreamed a dream that someday this will be redone and not break my heart. Love this story. Love Chaos. THIS IS NOT OWN THE WIND. Read the book instead.

Enjoy this book!

Where does Own the Wind rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would rank it in the middle, but I have some amazing books to listen to. I enjoyed the book, it wasn't rocket science, but it was exactly what I wanted...fun, funny, and enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the way K. Ashley shows the passage of time and the maturation of the characters. I also liked that Tabby stood up for herself and for her relationship.

Which character – as performed by Angela Starling – was your favorite?

Tabitha was definitely my favorite. We see her become more and more mature as the book progresses and I enjoyed the sense of humor shown.

So Sweet

I liked the dynamics between Shy and Tabby in Tac’s story, so I was routing for them. I really liked the way that their friendship developed, after Tabby’s tragedy. I did hate the way that Tabby learned about Shy’s relationship with Rosie. That, kick you in the gut pain, is the absolute worst. This series has the same cadence as The Rock Chicks series, so if you were into that series, you’ll like this series. There is also some of our favorite characters, from that series, in this book. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Not bad

This is a great intro for people who want a soft introduction to biker stories. It's not crazy at all and its not dark well not for that is because I like dark romance stories. I do feel that most likely book 2 will be 🔥 . so hopefully it is. Also I do feel that this audiobook should had a male narrator in it too.

Not much here

I lived Walk in Fire, so I listened to this one all the way to find that beautiful storytelling. It ain’t here. Tabby has the vocabulary of a 15 yo, a few monosyllabic words that carry different meanings based on inflection, eyebrows, and volume. The entire story revolves around tab and Shy’s relationship with no other storyline until the very end to lead to the next book. It’s just not worth the listen.
