GOODREADS AUTHOR OF THE YEAR NOMINEE, 2012

Too hot to handle....

Tabitha Allen grew up in the thick of Chaos—the Chaos Motorcycle Club, that is. Her father is Chaos' leader, and the club has always had her back. But one rider was different from the start. When Tabby was running wild, Shy Cage was there. When tragedy tore her life apart, he helped her piece it back together. And now, Tabby's thinking about much more than friendship....

Tabby is everything Shy's ever wanted, but everything he thinks he can't have. She's beautiful, smart, and as his friend's daughter, untouchable. Shy never expected more than friendship, so when Tabby indicates she wants more—much more—he feels like the luckiest man alive. But even lucky men can crash and burn....

Pleasantly Surprised

I wasn't sure if I would like this book but I am so thankful I took a chance. It's edgy, flows well and I absolutely loved the interaction between Taby and Shy. I will say there is quite a bit of testosterone in this book and if you are not into dominate men this may not be the book for you; however I loved the men. I especially loved that Taby doesn't let Shy run all over her.

I will definitely be recommending this book to friends.

Thought I Missed One

I have to start by saying that I enjoyed this book. Although, I kept thinking that I missed something. At one point I went on Kristen Ashley's website to see if there was a book before this. They kept talking about Cherry and Tack and all the trouble she got into but I did not remember any of this and so thought I might have missed a book. This book is very similar to Joanne Wylde's Reaper's Series that you could easily get them confused. I have to say I did at one point I thought both books were from the same series. I have to say that I like Joanne Wylde's book a bit more. They are both excellent and you will not waste a credit. This book jumps though several years of Tabby's life and I think the author could have gotten to the action in the story sooner. I think the next book will be better as now the storyline is all set up to have more action and drama from the start of the book. This story was good but not has hardcore biker as others I've read. Overall a good listen.

Love Kristen Ashley - Just Love Her!!!

What did you love best about Own the Wind?

This is the first in the Chaos Series and it's wonderful to read about characters that we got to know in prior novels. Shy is totally alpha, Tab is totally cool and the MC is one hell of a family. The story of these two coming together is a great story.

What other book might you compare Own the Wind to and why?

If you love this, read her other novels Mystery Man, Motorcycle Man and Law Man to read about some of the related characters. One thing I love about Kristen Ashley is that she keeps her characters around so you can revisit them in other novels.

What does Angela Starling bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I read this book before I read it - it was a little difficult for me with the way she did the male voices but overall it was very well done. It just took me a couple hours to forget that it was a woman doing the voice instead of just taking in the book. And if you know who Tex is ... maybe you can sympathize with me that there was no way a female reader could do his voice. I think this series would be better served with a male/female duo reading it or just a male reader.

Any additional comments?

I love Kristen Ashley's books - I've read them all. Some of them are in genre's I don't usually prefer and guess what? I still love them. All I can say is if you find a KA book, you need something to read, you won't be disappointed by her. :)

narration

Overall the narration was good, the main problem were the male voices. Shy sounded like a male, but he sounded like a male robot most of the time.

Emotional read

This story draws you in from the start and it never stops. It takes the reader on an emotional journey with it's sad and beautiful moments. This is a tie with Sweet Dreams.

It wasn't for me

I really gave this book a chance, I finished it but it was to macho for my taste, this meaning the female protagonist was easily manipulated and push around, and she was happy about it!!! Even the guys from the club did it. I like the characters that was the reason I continued until the end.

Loved it

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Angela Starling?

Kate Russell. There are several repeat characters (Elvira, Tyra, Tac...) and their personalities weren't the same. Also, Angela Starling was very dry and dull. The voice of Shy was unfeeling and boring.

Any additional comments?

I have enjoyed listening to Kristen Ashley's books. Colorado Mountain Men ( my favorite) Dream Man, and Rock Chick Series all great. Would suggest reading them in recommended series order since references to prior characters.

Very entertaining story and performance

This book is a well told story about the Chaos Motorcycle Club, their lives, their loves, and their traditions. The characters are enjoyable in their genre. The performance is very good. I enjoy Kristen Ashley's writing.

Wowsers!

Would you consider the audio edition of Own the Wind to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the printed version, but this book is good. However I would have like the same narrator as the other books by Ms. Ashley

What was one of the most memorable moments of Own the Wind?

When Shy went and got his mother's earrings from his aunt.

What about Angela Starling’s performance did you like?

It was okay, but when you become used to the previous narrator...it just makes a difference

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Wild and Free
