Couldn't put it down!

From beginning to end I was completely entranced. Vlad and Layla are intriguing characters who rapidly made a place in my heart.

Excellent

If you like Jeaniene's Night Huntress Series, then you love this. It's in her style, and one of her better books in my opinion. I'm certain there will be more in the series and I look forward to listening to them. The narrator did an excellent job with voices and accents, and the characters were memorable and loveable, with lots of action thrown into the love story.

Fast Paced Start

This promises to be an excellent series. Fast paced story that grabs you from the beginning, interesting characters, wonderful narrator.

I took a chance on this book and bought it based on reviews of other readers. SO GLAD I DID! I am downloading book 2 as I write this! I really enjoyed all the characters and the strength of the main character. Her spunky attitude and confident nature drug me completely into the story unlike any book I have read recently. Being completely immersed in a book without realizing it was a nice surprise!

Yes, great voices of the different accents!

I have enjoyed all the books in the Night Huntress World. She is a very strong female character! I look forward to seeing how their relationships and her powers develop in future books.

NICE!

Awesome version of Vlad. One of my all time favorite historical characters.

there are a few things I am uncertain about with this story line, granted I haven't read her other books, but there is little explanation of how vampires are walking around in sun light. I do enjoy that Vampires are not out in the open in this series. I like that they are not your typical mopey, sappy vampires, but vicious killers, and yet can still interact with mortals to some extent. I like the romance in them, since its there, which is always awesome, but not complete total mussy love affairs you find in a lot of vampire novels.

Not a bad story

The reader needs to slow down. I tried .75 but that was to slow but not by much. It was read a bit to fast.

The only thing I am hating about this book is that the 2nd in the series isn't released yet... (Bah!) Thinking about having to wait almost 2 months until book 2 is released, Kills Me.

This is a great action story with a really great romance blooming all throughout. The narrator did a great job adding to the story as well. I love that the lead male character has his own mind and doesn't sell himself out just to get the girl like so many other romances. I can't wait to see where their relationship goes in the next book. Although it isn't an epic romance, it ranks pretty high up on my list of great reads.

As far as the author goes, I read the first 8 chapters of Night Huntress and hated every last bit of it - I just couldn't read another word of that book. Bones was nice, but Kat just grated on my last nerve. Thankfully reviews for "Once Burned" overrode my inclination to skip reading another Jeaniene Frost book.

I'm relieved the author went a different direction with a female lead who isn't such a dominate wreck as Kat was in Night Huntress. The author has completely redeemed herself in my eyes. Well done in writing "Once Burned" Jeaniene!

I just loved it! I love all of the books from this writer but this one in particular was wonderfull.
