Publisher's summary

She's a mortal cursed with dark power....

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: a terrifying ability to channel electricity and to see a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude ... until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire.

He's the Prince of Night....

Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all - but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula. Vlad's ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him: a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, passion ignites, threatening to consume them. It will take everything they have to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

OMG IT WAS TOO SHORT :) I LOVE VLAD AND LAYLA

Would you consider the audio edition of Once Burned to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version. I have listened to all of Jeaniene Frost's books on audio. I am not sure I could read them after the AMAZING audio!!!

What other book might you compare Once Burned to and why?

I don't compare books. This one is just as amazing as the others book by jeanine!~ I love Vlad and Layla!!!

What about Tavia Gilbert’s performance did you like?

I LOVE TAVIA so much! She is spot on for the voices, the accents all the characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

No movie...it plays out well enough in my head!!!

Any additional comments?

KEEP THEM COMING PLEASE!!!!

Great Start to a series! I love it!

Where does Once Burned rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

At the top of the list! I love Jeaniene Frost! Cat and Bones introduced me to her writing and this one is right up there with all of their stories!

What other book might you compare Once Burned to and why?

The entire series with Cat and Bones. I love this author for her ability to write amazing stories.

What does Tavia Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

This is the perfect narrator for the series! I hope it doesn't change!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I will be listening to this book again. The second in the series came out today and I plan on listening to the two back to back. Of course, the second book is even more brilliant than the first (believe me, that's saying something) and I have finished it already!

Any additional comments?

You don't want to miss this series! Especially if you love Cat and Bones! Jeaniene Frost knows how to write strong women and men so we all fall in love with them!

Put it all together and you have a great story

Vampires are generally not my thing: but on the suggestion of a friend, I tried this book. The character development is a little tedious but needed. The narrator did a fantastic job creating the characters as themselves.
In the end, through all the weird twists and turns, an enjoyable listen.
I think there should be a caution to accompany this book: This book contains some erotic content

Typical "Night Huntress" style

I have always loved Vlad in the "Night Huntress" series, and was looking forward to a whole book of Vlad. Having said that, I was kinda disappointed in the book, because a small amount of Vlad seems to be better. He's very witty, and mysterious in the "Night Huntress" series, and unattached (which makes him so much sexier). This book seems to couple him up; like Ms. Frost has done with her other mysterious characters, thus making them less appealing. Part of what made the "Night Huntress" series so much fun has been her characters, and the interaction between Cat and Bones, and Cat's appeal to Bones' buddies. So, much of that has been lost in the series now, that I'm afraid "Night Huntress" will have to be put to rest.
Anyway, this book is typical of the rest of the books, and is very enjoyable for light listening. Never too scary, and has it's amusing times. Very predictable, and is trying to start a new series, which seems so much like the "Night Huntress" series, just with a change of leading characters. Loved that Tavia Gilbert was the narrator, cause she does such a good job with the "Night Huntress" novels, that I would have hated to get used to a different Vlad voice.
This one does leave you hanging, so be ready for the next installment. Trouble is that it's told by the leading lady of the book, so figure she's there to stay. Was called a Night Prince novel, but was more of a Layla novel. Would have liked to have seen Vlad as the first person of the series; raising havoc, and breaking hearts. As it is, we have another Cat type character, dominating the show.

Don't call him Dracula

Where does Once Burned rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very High up there.

What other book might you compare Once Burned to and why?

Eternal kiss of darkness. It is a spin off book of the Cat and Bones series.

Which character – as performed by Tavia Gilbert – was your favorite?

Vlad Tepish

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Too Hot to Handle

Any additional comments?

This was a great book. I loved hearing Vlads back story. This book shows a differnt side to Vlad aside from being in the Night Huntress books. Here he doesn't play second fiddle to Bones. Though the book ends as a stand alone book the last paragraph leaves the door open for the second book, Twice Tempted, due out in March of 2013. I started with the first Night Huntress book and listened to all of them including the N.H. World books and ended with this one. I am sad to see it end. Get this book, you will love it. Well, on to another series.

I liked it

I liked the story line, but hated the leading male, Vlad. It is hard to like a story when you want to scream run. Other than that I enjoyed the story and the narrator was awesome.

Loved it!

The story is imaginative, fast paced and draws you in right away! The narrator does a great job of interpreting and portraying several characters both male and female. I bought this book on a daily deal, but certainly credit worthy as well!
