Publisher's summary

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author J. S. Scott.

Dante Sinclair never cared about his family’s money. All the young billionaire ever wanted was to be a cop; and now that he’s a homicide detective in Los Angeles, he’s a damn good one. But when he is injured and loses his partner in the line of duty, he returns to his vacation home in Amesport, Maine, to recover.

Sarah Baxter, a brilliant young doctor still struggling with her stifled upbringing, has recently moved from Chicago to sleepy Amesport to escape her past, hoping to find peace. When Sarah is assigned to Dante’s case, there’s an instant heat between them. They couldn’t possibly be more different, yet their igniting passion is impossible to ignore. As new feelings awaken within Sarah, her haunted past returns, threatening her once again. But can Dante overcome his grief and discover the secrets Sarah is hiding in time to protect and rescue her?

IT'S NO ORDINARY BILLIONAIRE'S STORY EITHER

With only a few references to being one of the Sinclair Billionaire's and donating some money this is really about Dante a physically and mentally messed up Cop with Survivor's Guilt. He's been injured during a shoot out, goes back to Amesport Maine to recovery and meets Sarah his Doctor who snaps him out of his death wish depression with a few harsh words and an accidental spilling of her blood. Rather than being upset with her he's grateful and sorry so he goes to see her with a peace offering to thank her and that's when the sparks begin to fly between them.

A nice slow building sexy romance with an multi faceted Alpha male who is kind, thoughtful, caring, possessive, dominant, bossy and protective so when he finds out that his beautiful, caring, tender Sarah had been viciously attacked before and now her attacker is back threatening her life he goes into 'Cop mode' to save her life. There's suspense, a twist, a spanking in a Sub/Dom sex scene and more heated sex, a tension filled hostage scene, other Sinclair Billionaires, friends and secondary characters and a nicely built romance that leads to last minute declarations.

Told from dual POV's, a great narrator who could do good Alpha male voices and portrayed all the emotions well. This is the second Sinclair brother to find love as The Billionaire's Christmas is book 0.5 in the series and tells the story of Grady Sinclair and Emily who are mentioned a few times in this listen. It's not necessary to listen to it before this one but I wished I had to give me the full background.

Worth a credit? Yes it would have been but, at $7.34, my under $10 rule applied saving a credit for a more expensive but maybe not as enjoyable a listen.... and it's even cheaper at the moment being on sale at $5.24 so snap it up now. And I'm about to snap up book 0.5 for the same price but unfortunately with much less hours.

80% Sex, 20% plot

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The potential for a good plot was there for this book, but character development and storyline were so underdeveloped that it was just annoying.

Very Predictable

This is the first novel by J.S. Scott that I've listened to and it was ok but very predictable. .The story centered on an injured police detective returning to his home town to recover physically from his wounds and mentally from the loss of his long time partner and friend. What he finds as he recovers is the love of his life.Even if he wasn't looking, Sarah, love at first sight, shows up as his new Dr.
At this point the book took a turn as his possessive nature kicked in, he had a constant erection and followed her around to the point of being a stalker. It helped to be a billionaire in this situation as his home built by his other billionaire brothers and situated in prime real estate on the shores of Maine helped to lure in the Sarah. Sarah doesn't come without issues of her own and Dante is hot on the trail of her real to life stalker. The book has its funny moments in the form of snoopy elderly ladies who are into sixth sense and snooping for real news or gossip, whichever comes first.
The love scenes are somewhat crude in description and the listener needs to make exceptions to the street vernacular used, some that takes more away than add to the story and seem to be incongruous to the fact that both adults and are well educated intelligent people. I love some good sex scenes but there were so many in this book it became boring.
I can't help but compare this series to The Sullivan series by Bella Andre. Each book follows the stories of a wealthy family and their trials and tribulations on finding their life partners. This is what made the book so predictable it was like the author followed a written scrip for this type of book.

Elizabeth Powers was very good with the delivery of the story

Got So Tired of the "F" Word

I am glad I paid a small amount for this book. Got one more-not sure I am going to listen. Needs some more substance.

Just Stupid!!

OMG, these characters were totally unbelievable. The narrator made the main character sound like she might have limited intelligence; the pace and the way the book unfolds is more like fantasy. I could not finish this book because it was so bad.

Almost porn

I liked the characters and enjoyed the storyline. But the overly vulgar language and tons of gratuitous sex detracted from the story.

A book with potential

The story line was promising and interesting, but it was rushed and got lost in the sex scenes which didn't seem to fit the characters. The narrator did a good job, but the story struggled.

A great beginning to a series!

I loved the story line and the family! I'm hoping that it is the first of many! It had drama and love and great Dom/sub sex !! That was hot and steamy!!! Fell in love with the boys and would love to watch them grow as a family!

Pass the bucket!

What did you like best about No Ordinary Billionaire? What did you like least?

Not very exciting, didn't enjoy the characters talking to themselves every five minutes. Didn't finish it as I ran out of receptacles in which to vomit.
