Loved this...

Am a fan of Laurell K Hamilton and Sherrily Kenyon was recommneded for Hamilton fans. Now I'm really into it and I like the fact that each Dark Hunter book focusses on a new Dark Hunter, so avoids repetition. Narrator also a did a bang-up job of making me fall in love with the characters.

Not my kind of book...

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I thought the sex was overdone. It was not germaine to the story in my opinion. I love a book when the characters are well-developed and the sexual scenes leave you to your imagination. I am not interested in continuing on with the series. I'm not sorry I tried the book on the 3 for 2 credits.I do recommend you either use headphones or if listening in your car... make sure your windows are rolled up. Nothing worse than sitting at a red light when the story goes into great detail on a sex scene and your windows are down. Might have made someone's day though!

vocabulary

narrator needs to work on pronunciation. double check languages used besides English for reference.

Imo if you are hired to read a book, you should know how to pronounce every word correctly. Maybe im wrong on this, but I have always heard scipio pronounced sipio, not skip e o.... And the over the top accents were annoying

good story, few cliches

As per Sherrilyn's stories, lots of sexual tension and sexual scenes, I feel them to be as unmecesarry as nude scenes in horror films, so unnecesarry that if you skip ahead, you won't miss anything on the actual story. Getting past the multiple sex cringy deacriptions of the sex scenes, the story is actually good and the books become better through the series.

the story is great, but please teach the narrator how to pronounce some of the language

Great series

Am I the only guy that reads these books? All reviews are from women so I'll give my opinion. Narrator is good, lots of action, and lots of VERY detailed, passionate love scenes. Honestly I think the author is definatly a nymph, and I love it! Cant help but wonder what my neighbors think when im cleaning house and blaring these books on my surround sound. Apart from the frequent love scenes theres alot of mythology to turn guys on to this series so try it, you wont be dissapointed

This series is beginning no way that I am super excited about I love the character development I love the world the love the true love of this story offers you're looking for a good suspense all cookie cutter is not this book but wonderful

Where does Night Pleasures rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have about 150 books and i would rank it about 125. The reason is the narrator. Her southern drawl is atrocious.

What other book might you compare Night Pleasures to and why?

This book is not addicting like SK's Legion series and i have only a couple of other books that dealt with vampires,but unfortunately I don't remember them off the top of my head.

What didn’t you like about Carrington MacDuffie’s performance?

I absolutely did not like her female voices and accents. I have been holding off on getting this book and checking out this series because of the reviews and I must say I would have liked the story much better if there was a different narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to this book in two days, but I would go from interested to wanting to chuck it out the window of my car while driving. Normally when I'm hooked I listen to it when I go to bed and with this book, I was perfectly content to finish it the next morning. I'm not normally into any vampire type books, but I really liked SK's Legion books and so after about 6 months I bought this one even with the bad reviews. I liked the basic story line and wanted to know what happened but the narration would throw me off the story and have to keep rewinding the book. at one point I listened to the same 2 minutes at least 6 times to try to figure out what was being said. I found that very annoying.

Any additional comments?

If your not familiar with SK books, don't start with this one. I'm just starting this series so I can totally recommend the Legion series she has. This book is something I would probably would NOT listen to over and over like some other series I have in both book format and audio, but I still won't return it just because i like having all the books in a series.
