Publisher's summary

Maybe it was the Shenanigans gift certificate that put her over the edge. When children's librarian and self-professed nice girl Jane Jameson is fired by her beastly boss and handed $25 in potato skins instead of a severance check, she goes on a bender that's sure to become Half Moon Hollow legend. On her way home, she's mistaken for a deer, shot, and left for dead. And thanks to the mysterious stranger she met while chugging neon-colored cocktails, she wakes up with a decidedly unladylike thirst for blood.

Jane is now the latest recipient of a gift basket from the Newly Undead Welcoming Committee, and her life-after-lifestyle is taking some getting used to. Her recently deceased favorite aunt is now her ghostly roommate. She has to fake breathing and endure daytime hours to avoid coming out of the coffin to her family. She's forced to forgo her favorite down-home Southern cooking for bags of O negative. Her relationship with her sexy, mercurial vampire sire keeps running hot and cold. And if all that wasn't enough, it looks like someone in Half Moon Hollow is trying to frame her for a series of vampire murders. What's a nice undead girl to do?

Love in vein: bite into more of Jane Jameson's paranormal exploits.

Giggle and groan thru it!

The humor is light and fun. The suspense and fights too! Had a good time listening to this. It lightened my night.
Not serious. The heroine is a bit snarky, and her hero is only slightly mysterious.

Hilarious! More comedy than romance

Molly Harper’s books are so funny! Sometimes I forget I am reading a romance novel. Her witty writing and Amanda Ronconi’s narration are the perfect combination. Just brilliant!

A Standout Among The "Vampire Book" Craze

Full of laughs, but with a serious undertone... With so many vampire books to choose from (most with the SAME theme/story) Molly Harper's Jane is a real treat! Amanda Ronconi does a terrific job - just the right mixture of humor, irony, sadness and outrage.

I finished it in one day, continually startling the people around me as I laughed aloud. The gift certificate in lieu of a severance check was priceless... sounds like something my boss would try... ehm.

Good begining Quarky fun

I liked the premise of the first book a lot. A small town librarian getting shot accidentally and turning into the vampire and then getting mixed up with murder and mayhem. I think the Jane Jamison books are essentially cozy mystery with a vampire twist. It doesn't have the usual fight against the races, apocalyptic prophecy nor the dark outlook other paranormal series often have.

The series is really really funny, especially the snarky, quarky and snide comments Jane makes. Some might compare the series to the Betsy series, but IMHO there is a BIG difference. I actually like the main character! Sometimes I wish she wasn't so nice, but I suppose in real “family feud” people do have love/hate relationship with loved ones just like her and try desperately hard not to ruin what relationship they have. So if you like paranormal stuff but not really into violence, blood, or doomesday story, this is a great series!

definitely entertaining

i was looking for a 'new' author and came across Harper. thought i'd give the book a go as i was in the mood for something light but not frivolous.
was pleasantly surprised at the funny (though not 'ha-ha') narrative and the engaging characters.
came back for book 2 and i'm now on book 3.
well wworth the read, as it would put a smile on your face...

This is a must-have series!!

I could go on and on about Molly Harper's wittiness and talent.... She is one of my favorite top 5 authors ever... But when she teamed up with Amanda Ronconi, oh my! What a pair! Ronconi's spot-on vocals and her ability to bring Harper's characters to life always leaves me smiling and begging for more!

Undead and trying not to die

I debated on giving this 3 stars. I finally decided 3.5 so I rounded it up to 4. The first half was hard for me to get in to. I have only listened to Where the Wild Things Bite. I loved it. I think maybe this is one of those series that the first book is getting to know the characters. It had some hilarious moments. I laughed so hard when Jane was mistaken for a deer and shot. It's not funny but is. Lol. This is what led to her being found by a vampire and turned.

The narrator is good but annoying in this book. I'm not crazy about her voice. She does great on different characters but Jane's voice sometimes gets to me. Especially when she says 'mama'.

Jane's family sucks! They treat her so bad. I felt bad for her. Like I said, nothing much happens for the first half of the book. But the second half is funny. I loved getting to know her friend and his new girlfriend. As for the whole big mystery of who is trying to kill Jane and why, I wasn't very impressed. I'm glad I listened to it though because of the other book in the series. I plan on trying all of them. It was really good and funny.

Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs

A funny, light hearted and entertaining story with a great narrator too. One of the most enjoyable audio books I have listened to. It made me laugh out loud on quite a few occassions. I can't wait to enjoy the rest of the series.
