Publisher's summary

Maybe it was the Shenanigans gift certificate that put her over the edge. When children's librarian and self-professed nice girl Jane Jameson is fired by her beastly boss and handed $25 in potato skins instead of a severance check, she goes on a bender that's sure to become Half Moon Hollow legend. On her way home, she's mistaken for a deer, shot, and left for dead. And thanks to the mysterious stranger she met while chugging neon-colored cocktails, she wakes up with a decidedly unladylike thirst for blood.

Jane is now the latest recipient of a gift basket from the Newly Undead Welcoming Committee, and her life-after-lifestyle is taking some getting used to. Her recently deceased favorite aunt is now her ghostly roommate. She has to fake breathing and endure daytime hours to avoid coming out of the coffin to her family. She's forced to forgo her favorite down-home Southern cooking for bags of O negative. Her relationship with her sexy, mercurial vampire sire keeps running hot and cold. And if all that wasn't enough, it looks like someone in Half Moon Hollow is trying to frame her for a series of vampire murders. What's a nice undead girl to do?

Love in vein: bite into more of Jane Jameson's paranormal exploits.

Not really enough of a story for me

Needs a thicker plot

Probably not

Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't, but the performance was not the problem

Did Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs inspire you to do anything?

no

Any additional comments?

I like the Charlaine Harris books much better

Smart and funny - a very good listen

Any additional comments?

I don't know how I found this book, but ended up listening to all of them in the series I liked it so much. Jane is a funny and smart and old fashioned librarian. She rarely drinks and on the night she gets a gift certificate to 'Shenanigans' (her compensation package in its entirety), the amount is just enough to get her 'rip snortin' drunk'. Enter Gabriel. Yum. Listen on, I believe her to be laugh out loud funny.
In a world of smut, it's so refreshing to listen to a story that doesn't concentrate only on that aspect. Nice job, Molly Harper!

A little bit weaker than usual but still great!

I adore Molly Harper, even if this book had been horrible I would still buy the next one, and it wasn't horrible. It didn't have the same punch for me as her other books have, but that shouldn't deter you from this book.....It's like this one gets a 95% and her other's had a 100%! Still awesome writing and still a great narrator.

Hilarious & a surprisingly unique YA novel!

I was very pleasantly surprised at this novel. Though I do enjoy a good YA romance book, I've strayed away from the YA paranormal genre since my teen years. After encouragement from other reviews though, I purchased it on a whim and absolutely loved it! The writing is fresh and seriously hilarious - I often burst out laughing in my car. This definitely exceeded my expectations and I'm excited to listen to the rest of the series! #vampires #romance #funny #witty #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Fanged and Funny

Nice Girls don't have fangs is the first installment in the Jane Jameson series. It mixes a bit of comedy, mid-west country living, and Supernatural lore.

Jane, the librarian, is the typical smart girl character with limited friends and no invite to the cool kids club. She lives in the small town called Half Moon Hollow , which I think is a very cute name. Anyone who was raised in a small town knows the pros and cons. This book really gives the city readers a chance to see the corks that come from everyone knowing everyone. It actually took me back to my childhood in a small southern town. So many of these conversations were probably had about me 😂.

Jane is turned into a Vampire and the scandal is hilarious and juicy. The authors strength is her ability to mix the humoir into what could be a sad story. There were some parts that I listened to twice just so I could laugh.

For example, when the towns women were upset with her aunt so they stopped taking her coupons at Piggly Wiggly 😂😂😂

Favorite Quote: This is not how people behave in a Cracker Barrel!

There were some things I found odd such as the best friends reaction to her becoming a Vampire. He joins a therapy group to cope with her being a Vampire, but immediately starts dating a supernatural. Why doesnt he need a therapy group for that???

The author decided to go what now is a traditional route with having a Vampire council and gaming laws/rights for the undead. This part was a bit choppy. It wasn't as smooth as the rest of the book but the authors good writing on other topics will out shine this one slight flaw.

The narrator has a few challenges. All the male voices other than Dick Cheney sound the same. In the midst of reading, narrator voice changes back to normal like she can't hold the character too long. Counsel women has the same exact voice as lead character. It's not too hard to follow since the author will state who is talking after every statement. But if she were to read for another author she may run into some problems.

3 Stars - 🌟🌟🌟 Good Book. I like the overall concept and it was delivered well. Most common ranking for a book I enjoyed and look forward to the next.

Which scene was your favorite?

Every scene where Janes does or says something completely awkward

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Most awkward vampire movie of the year

Any additional comments?

The wide variety of weird characters here make me feel completely normal

Potential

The narrator does a decent job with the women. The voice never changes but the accent does at least. The men all sound the exact same and not very manly though. The plot premise is interesting. There are some funny pieces of dialogue. I dislike the rambling of the story at points and lots of random info that is unnecessary to the movement of the story. I'm growing increasingly frustrated with the amount of books recently that rely on the stupidity of the female lead to move the story forward. I really can't stand stupid characters.

quirky southern vamp chick romance

quirky, made me laugh,.. found the main character, nice girl librarian turned vampire, likeable though exasperating. She's book smart, stubborn, socially maladjusted, emotionally awkward and delightfully funny. I have a love/annoy relationship with her. I couldn't stop listening and looked forward to every chapter. Get ready for zanniness, adventure, romance and undead issues with Mom. I think I'm going to have to get the next book.

Love her quick wit and quirky characters!

I usually hate vampire/ paranormal books, but this was funny, sexy and witty! Jane gets fired from her job as a librarian, a job she loves and spills her troubles to a man she's never met as she drinks away her sorrows at a local pub. The good thing is, Jane is not a whiner, but has a quick wit and sarcastic humor and the man is intrigued. But he doesn't invite her home and she's bummed. Then her car quits on the way home, she falls into a muddy ditch, gets mistaken for a deer by a drunk hunter and is shot. Days don't get much worse. Luckily, her stranger found her and asks, "Do you want to die?" Jane says no and thus begins her days as part of the newly undead. There's a gift basket from the local "Undead Welcoming Committee" complete with handbook, the special foods section at Walmart where she can buy her synthetic blood all night and a whole new life she had never imagined. And of course, the man who saved her, Gabriel, who is smokin' hot and wants her. Her best friend, Zeb, who almost becomes her first meal (and no vampires do not kill humans -they only take what they need, but Zeb doesn't know that yet) joins a friends and family of vampires support group where he meets a wonderful werewolf. Then there is her dead aunt whom she can now see and talk to, her pushy mom, selfish sister and a vampire horn dog that won't leave her alone. The story is funny and the characters are great! Love Molly Harper's sharp sense of humor!
