Publisher's summary

Once a devoted children's librarian, Jane Jameson now works at a rundown occult bookstore. Once a regular gal, she's now a vampire. And instead of a bride, she's an eternal bridesmaid -- which leads her to question where exactly her relationship with her irresistibly sexy sire, Gabriel, is headed. Mercurial, enigmatic, apparently commitment-phobic vampires are nothing if not hard to read. While Jane is trying to master undead dating, she is also donning the ugliest bridesmaid's dress in history at her best friend Zeb's Titanic-themed wedding. Between a freaked-out groom-to-be, his hostile werewolf in-laws, and Zeb's mother, hell-bent on seeing Jane walk the aisle with Zeb, Jane's got the feeling she's just rearranging the proverbial deck chairs.

Meanwhile, Half Moon Hollow's own Black Widow, Jane's Grandma Ruthie, has met her match in her latest fiance. He smells like bad cheese and has a suspicious history of dead spouses. But Jane's biting her tongue. After all, would a nice girl really think she has a future with a vampire?

an entertaining listen

Would you consider the audio edition of Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men to be better than the print version?

I haven't read any of the "Nice Girls" books, so couldn't say if the audio version was better than the print one, but I will say that I very much enjoyed the audio version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think Jane herself was the best, but I loved the entire cast, and thought Dick was well written - you got a sense of his personality more than other characters.

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like her style, and inflection. She does a good southern accent, though her men's voices are a little goofy. The aren't totally believable - but it doesn't ruin the listen.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No. It's a pretty lightweight storyline, so no major ups or down.

Jane, Jane, Jane....What a Wonderful Character

I think these books are a blast to read. I love the character Jane, she's a fun & clever girl, with a never ending talent for snark and sarcasim. This is a light take on the paranormal. Very similiar to the Sookie Stackhouse books, but with a PG rating. I laughed out loud many times. each of these books were better then the last. I think the narrator captured Janes personality perfectly. I love Jane and her friends, their fun and unforgetable.

What did you love best about Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men?

The sarcasm, I could relate to the character. It also had me laughing. My husband was cussing me because I woke up early one morning, couldn't go back to sleep and started listening. I woke him up laughing. He was unimpressed, needless to say.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dick!! I loved his idiosyncrasies. I loved Jane as well. Dick added depth and humor that just made the story.

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I can imagine her as Jane. She pulls the sarcasm off flawlessly.

Could have been 1/3 as long

Same great characters. Still funny. I still find the awkward semi-violent sex to be more quirky and confusing than hot. My main issue with this book was the pace dragged. I felt like we heard the main character reassure the bride and everyone else that the groom wasn't in love with her Way too many times. It just seemed like some scenes were dragging things out. Even all of the in-law drama just wore thin to the point of annoyance versus enjoyable. The mystery elements of these stories are easy to guess ahead of time so more variety is needed in the obstacles before we reach the inevitable reveal/conclusion. The preview for the 3rd book sounds good and back on track. I'm going to keep reading because I like the characters and the world this author has created. Crossing my fingers that the next one is better.

Titanic wedding

Jane and her best friend Zeb are so much fun together but of late Zeb has been being an ass to his amazing fiancé Jolene. Jane has to figure out what is wrong with her best friend and why he seemed interested in her as she also tries to figure out what is going on with her and her site Gabriel. Nothing is ever easy for Jane but she loves working at the occult bookstore. I loved the little books at the beginning of each chapter. Jane and her friends work together again to try to help make sure this titanic wedding goes better than it’s name sake.
