This book the narration, storyline, all of it it brilliant. This is next level literary brilliance.

Good enough that I went and got the next one.

I guess I really liked this because I went and bought the next one in the series right away(and the next and the next). It did have great characters, I'll say that. And the story was somewhat believable although it does get a little far-fetched in the next few books. Nonetheless, the back story about a girl who was brutally raped as a teen and a man who suffered from PTSD after a stint in Afganistan, worked well to create chemistry between the two. I like that Bryanne wasn't a pushover, she seemed like a strong American woman for the most part. The narration was awesome, by the way----Shane East has the sexiest voice ...I had to google him just to see what he looked like, I couldn't find his picture. :( Oh well, it's probably for the best.

Recommend reading not listening

This series is pretty well written and the story is interesting. I think my rating would likely be higher if I had read the book.

The female narrators did pretty well but at times it was difficult to follow the character changes during conversation. The male narrator did a good job with his primary role and I personally enjoyed the accent. However, when he performed Brynn's parts (especially during steamy scenes) it came off a little creepy sometimes- thus, squashing most of the heat.

It's a shame. Talented authors commit the time and effort to create these works for us (the readers). But, there seems to be only a few that recognize the importance of a good audible delivery. Frankly, it's often a deal-breaker for me. Not many ppl are going to continue reading a book that is full of typos, grammar errors, and misspelled words. Likewise, if the performance is bad they won't be returning for the next installment- even if the plot is good. It's aggravating and makes it difficult to follow. The information needs to be delivered in a manner that's clear and consistent with the message & mood of the story. It is just as, if not more important for audible versions. (Audible libraries do not come cheap!) Most likely, I would not have finished this series had it not been included in the plus-catalog making it free. It's a shame bc the witty banter and depth of the characters' connection offered a lot of promise.

Just ok

It was way too rushed for me with poor character development. Even if it is a series this first book did not have enough substance. If an author wants to entice readers to continue then you need to care enough about the characters to want to know more. Too bad

TOO SHORT!

I enjoyed the whole series. But then I love Shane East's voice, too. Overall the book was good. Big twist. The UK "Shades of Grey" would have been a good title, but the female lead has more depth than that of Shades.

The sex is far more graphic and doesn't really add to the story. The story was too short, but then it set the author up well for series sales.

Overall, the first book draws you in and makes you want to know what happened and what will happen.

I'm just coming off a James Cavendish high..(up in the air series)
I'm not as into Ethan, but I'm heading to the second book now so hopefully he will grow on me.

Sexy.

I did a reread through audiobooks. And I really missed this story and the characters. It is angtsy and very sexy. I really enjoyed the audio.

Another Fifty without all the kinky F...

This was the first book i've heard with two narrators and I enjoyed it. I didn't mind how they went back and forth taking turns. It really helped bring the characters to life for me. Much like Fifty, you have plenty of hot erotic sex, which sometimes was a tad bit too much for me. Story was good though.

Intense

I loved the series the first time I read it and knew I had to do an audio re-read in preparation for book 5!

Hearing Bryn and Ethan come to life added so much to the story. His intensity, her sass. I loved it. She didn't have a chance against him. He's overwhelming and adoring and her biggest weakness.

I'm going to dive into book two!!
