Publisher's Summary

Standing on the cliffs of 12th-century Ireland following the disappearance of his twin, Hoyt Mac Cionaoith is visited by the goddess Morrigan and is charged with the ultimate of tasks: saving his and all future worlds.

His enemy, the beautiful but deadly vampire queen Lilith, has had over 2,000 years of experience in cruelly killing and changing humans into one of her own - including Hoyt's brother, Cian.

Now, Hoyt, a sorcerer, must travel across the world and through time to find and train the five others Morrigan has prophesized will join him as a circle and do battle against Lilith's army of vampires on Samhain in the land of Geall.

But just who is the witch, the shape-changer, the scholar, the warrior and the vampire? How will this unlikely band of six prepare and become one with less than three months until the possible end of the world?

Following the arrival of Glenna Ward - a modern day witch with a knack for making her own kind of magic, the kind that makes his heart melt - Hoyt must find the strength to save the world, and a love that knows no bounds.

Complete the circle: listen to all three books in Nora Roberts' Circle Trilogy, including Book 2, Dance of the Gods, and Book 3, Valley of Silence.

    "Great Story!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this audiobook. It is fast moving, and exciting. Some of the story line is a little weak, but then the author pulls it back out. I enjoyed it.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the fact that it was a story someone was telling to children, and you forget that until you get to the end, and then you are reminded of it...and it explains some of the parts of the story that seem to simple.

What about Dick Hill’s performance did you like?

Dick Hill did a great job! Love his voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The Power of Love..the gift of magic.

"Dick Hall makes the whole series a BLAST!"
What did you love best about Morrigan's Cross?

The performance is fantastically fun and the story line was interesting- it leaves you wanting more, and fortunately there is more in the two subsequent books that make up the series

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hard to pick a favorite- Dick Hall is talented! The fact that it's one guy doing all the characters is very impressive because he is able to distinguish the characters for the listener- even the female characters- so I'd have to say Dick Hall is my favorite character as the narrator!

    Which scene was your favorite?

Picturning Hoyt adapting to the luxuries of modern times like running water, taxi cabs, and elevators!

"You'll jump in to the next book, after this one"

This is the first of a trilogy, that doesn't disappoint. When it started out, I was very skeptical as to whether I made a good buy, on this book. The narrator has a very strong male voice, that makes the sorcerer of the book sound very old and gruff. Actually, he's supposed to be a young attractive man. The women's voices are much to be desired, too. But getting past that, he does have the characters mannerisms down pat, so you really get a chuckle at times, with his delivery of a sentence.
In the beginning of the book, there is a lot of background to the quest at hand, and meeting the characters of that quest. That can get tedious at times, but don't give up. Relationships start to develop, and action takes place, all leading into the next book. I'm in to the next book now, and am not disappointed. If you like reading of vampires, witches, and shape shifters, with plenty of romance,in an action packed quest; they are all in this book, good and evil, and the fate of the worlds (yes, worlds), is in their hands.

    "Thoroughly enjoyed it!"

I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before I bought this book, as I might have missed out on a very good read. I finished "Morrigan's Cross" (the first book in the Circle trilogy) and couldn't wait to start the second book, to which I am currently listening. I love the paranormal/mythological air of the story, and the coming together of the characters from different times. Yes, as someone pointed out, there is a slight resemblance to the story line in the Sign of 7 trilogy, but only in that a group of characters come together to fight evil; otherwise the story lines are different.
As far as the narrator, Dick Hill, I think he did a fine job and I enjoyed his narration. He does a great Irish brogue (I love Hoyt's voice), and I am able to distinguish the characters' voices with no problem. The comment was made by another reviewer that he made the female voices sound whiny. I think he did a very acceptable job for a man with a deep voice.

    "Character development?"
This book wasn???t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

If you are looking for some mindless drivel, this is the book for you. The charaters are so poory developed, that I find I don't really care about any of them. I also found that it was hard to follow where they are geographically.

Would you ever listen to anything by Nora Roberts again?

I liked the Three Sisters Trilogy, but this did not work for me.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Dick Hill?

I don't really follow readers, the only one I can think of is Paul Gigante and he might have done a better job with the female voices, this guy makes us all sound whiny and ridiculous.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointed, I was hoping for something closer to the Three Sisters with good mythology and character development.

    Any additional comments?

If you are not a Nora Roberts fan who will listen to anything by her, this is not for you. I think you could find something that might make you care more.

What made the experience of listening to Morrigan's Cross the most enjoyable?

Narrator had a great Irish accent and a wide range of voices to alert you to a different character.

What other book might you compare Morrigan's Cross to and why?

Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. Time travel through the stones.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Hoyt in the future in New York City

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Both

    "Fascinating story!"

This book starts out slow because of the details needed, but when it gets going I couldn't stop listening. This book brings the paranormal worlds together with a wonderful story to entertain. You will enjoy if you give it a chance.

    "Same story diffrent time"

This is the same story as the Sign of Seven Trilogy. the narration is well done but the story is almost exactly the same. the sign of seven was a good story line but i didn't want to hear it again in a 14th century format. the concept had great promise but it was predictable once you have read the Sign of Seven Trilogy. I hope this helps

    "HUGE disappointment!"

I have read most of the series that Nora Roberts has published. In fact, I've been listening to her "In Death" J.D. Robb-series since Audible began offering them. ( 6 more to go!) They are WONDERFUL!!!

The "In Death" series features Susan Ericksen's considerable talent as narrator. She gives life to all of the characters. I listen during my commute and I can't wait to get back to Eve Dallas' life.

When I saw the $4.95 offerings, I decided to try "Morrigan's Cross". By the time I listened to 1 1/2 CDs I just could not stand to listen to this book anymore. I'd finished both of my books for the month and I wanted to try one of the $4.95 "bargains"...but this book was NO bargain! Dick Hill's narration bored me silly! I literally couldn't take his droning on and on and on.
