Publisher's summary

Standing on the cliffs of 12th-century Ireland following the disappearance of his twin, Hoyt Mac Cionaoith is visited by the goddess Morrigan and is charged with the ultimate of tasks: saving his and all future worlds.

His enemy, the beautiful but deadly vampire queen Lilith, has had over 2,000 years of experience in cruelly killing and changing humans into one of her own - including Hoyt's brother, Cian.

Now, Hoyt, a sorcerer, must travel across the world and through time to find and train the five others Morrigan has prophesized will join him as a circle and do battle against Lilith's army of vampires on Samhain in the land of Geall.

But just who is the witch, the shape-changer, the scholar, the warrior and the vampire? How will this unlikely band of six prepare and become one with less than three months until the possible end of the world?

Following the arrival of Glenna Ward - a modern day witch with a knack for making her own kind of magic, the kind that makes his heart melt - Hoyt must find the strength to save the world, and a love that knows no bounds.

Complete the circle: listen to all three books in Nora Roberts' Circle Trilogy, including Book 2, Dance of the Gods, and Book 3, Valley of Silence.

loved the book hated the narration

I really struggled with the narrator. Especially his women's voices. grrrrrh I kept trying to listen but just kept switching back to reading only. A definite waste of immersive reading.

A tale of wonder

I read this when it first came out. Revisiting the story in this format is a treasure. The narrator is superb. On to the next.

A work of art

My all time favorite book. I’ve only read it 100 times. It’s like a warm comfy blanket. It brings me such joy. This is the first book I always recommend.

What have you people been smoking?

This narrator makes the book even better. After listening to these via my public library I actually bought them on Audible. Each character has a different accent, a specific voice and is well performed. Far from being a bland-hum-drum-disappointingly-watered-down-version of just another paranormal romance, it stands out for me in a sea of other wanna-be's. Each book just gets better as the series progresses. I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about and believe that either they're high or delusional. Trust me and buy-on my fellow listeners. You won't regret it.

An old favorite

I have the paperbacks of this trilogy but I haven't read them in years. It took me a while to adjust to the accent of the performer but once I did, I really enjoyed the story.

Narrator is Excellent

I’ve seen quite a few reviews that state that they did not care for the narrator. For me, the narrator made this trilogy 10000x better. Each character is distinctly narrated and the Irish dialects used provides richness to the narration.

I listen to this trilogy at least once a year. It’s one of my favorite trilogies of all time. It is classic Nora Roberts, with a grand quest, this time at the behest of the Goddess Morrigan. The six participants in this quest are from different worlds, backgrounds, and have their own specialty. This is the first book, that includes the introduction, the characters coming together, and the start of the quest.

As I mentioned, this is one of my favorites, and I highly recommend that you give it a shot.

Decent story, intolerable narration

I am generally pretty accepting of variations of narration, and don’t mind a lot of the books other people complain about the narration on. But this was just intolerable. The female voices were whining and obnoxious, the tone not match the content. Returned. Will continue the trilogy on kindle alone.
