Publisher's summary

This second electrifying installment in Kendra Leigh Castle’s Dark Dynasties series follows Lyra Black, the future leader of a powerful werewolf pack. When wild, passionate Lyra is violently attacked, the normally disinterested vampire cat-shifter Jaden Harrison saves her. But Lyra isn’t out of the woods yet. PARANORMAL PURRRRFECTION

Another great listen by KLC with the deep moody brilliant narration of Pete Bradbury - what a winning formula. Cat-shapeshifting Vampires vs Werewolves and more all battle it out in a touching plot of a forbidden love and so much more, but will love win the day?

Great plot, fantastic characters, an evil Queen of the Ptolemy who will stop at nothing to get Ty and Jaden, the Gutter-bloods, back to her Court and in chains (somebody please stake her!!). All this and a wicked twist to the plot at the end that you just don't see coming.

Worth a Credit? Yes, if you haven't already listened to book 1 then I would suggest getting that one first as this one does refer to situations from book 1, but it's not ABSOLUTELY necessary and could get by as a worthy listen on it's own.

Dynasties series worth it

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I know it's the same old same old with the hero chasing the female. But I enjoyed the way the story flows. You want to know more about the characters, their lives and their world. And the evil villainous who is just out of reach.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Midnight Reckoning?

It is hard to pick, maybe the end when Ty tells his brother what an idiot he is for not realizing that a woman doesn't have to say she loves him, if she has shown in every way possible.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scenes are at the beginning of the book when the hero and heroine go at it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I just enjoyed this story and their world. This series is not the most fantastic vampire series but it is a good one.

Any additional comments?

Looking forward to the next book in the series

I wish there were more books available!

I really enjoyed the first two books, of this series. I enjoyed the uniqueness of this author’s paranormal world. I really hate that audible teased us with only two books; what’s up with that? Even though I can’t proceed with the series, I don’t regret listening to the two books they were available.

Great book, Pete Bradbury is a treat!

I'm really likeing this author! I loved this book... the way the author was true to both the female and male here and left them both strong people.... I loved it. Good for you!
There was even a twist I didn't catch till the end because I'm not use to romance novels having such things... bravo again.

Ok so yes I liked the story, the way rules were broken and yet people came together, the way a woman could be strong - brake down yet find her strength again and land on her feet, the way the "strong" men in this series can hang with their women....

Great story line,

I love you Pete Bradbury! you are the best! your voice sexy! sexy!

Better than the first!

What did you love best about Midnight Reckoning?

I love the new twist of werewolf + vampire... I've never read that before!

What other book might you compare Midnight Reckoning to and why?

I would compare this book (and the series) to another great paranormal romance series by Dianne Duvall called Immortal Guardians. An amazing read if you haven't found it yet!

What does Pete Bradbury bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I don't normally listen to male readers for romances, but I have been enjoying his readings of the series thus far. I might even prefer male voices after listening to this series with Bradbury.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES

Any additional comments?

I think this series is very cool for continuing with characters from the past book (similar to Immortal Guardians, but not as invested that it would take it away from the story too much by reading them out of order). Loved the characters. I have an idea about what might happen in the next book.... :)

Another Great Story in the Dark Dynasties Series!

This was the second book in the Dark Dynasties series and could be read as a stand-alone without reading the first in the series. I recommend that you read the first book, Dark Awakening, just because it would give you a better understanding of everything that has already happened and because it was a great book!

In this world created by Kendra Leigh Castle, Vampires and Werewolves do not get along. The have huge trust issues with each other and avoid each other whenever possible. So when Jaden decides to go the see Lyra Black and return something to her, he is walking straight into werewolf territory and they is no guarantee that he will walk out alive.

I really enjoyed this second book in the series, almost more than the first. Lyra and Jaden think they are natural rivals, just like cats and dogs, but they aren’t. Neither can understand why the other is interesting. Unfortunately for both, the long-standing aversion to each other’s species leaves them both at odds with the strangeness between them. When Jaden agrees to teach Lyra how to fight better, they are thrown together and forced to face their feelings or fight them off tooth and tail. The future of Lyra’s pack is hanging on by a whisker and her ability to fight maybe the only thing that saves her from warming the bed of an unwelcome mate.

The Narration Review
This audiobook was narrated by Pete Bradbury and he also narrated the first story in this series, Dark Awakening! Once again his narration was great. I really enjoy his voices for all the characters. He has a very clear voice and he really brings emotions and action to life with his story telling abilities.

Always interesting

For some reason, maybe it's the whole cat/vamp thing I never think I'm going to like these as much as I do. This has good characters, I can't wait to get to Damian, the plot isn't too tangled but it keeps my interest.

The narrator does a bang up job.
