Publisher's summary

Kate Svenson is attractive, successful, a brilliant businesswoman - and miserable. After three failed engagements, she realizes it's time for a PLAN...an organized, detailed agenda with a clear goal: finding Mr. Right.

The Cabins resort is ripe with eligible bachelors, all rich, distinguished and ambitious - just her type. And they're dropping like flies around her...at least, that's how Jake Templeton views the situation. After he's stuck pulling her latest reject out of the swimming pool, Jake's convinced this femme fatale is trouble. Especially for him.

But can a man who's sworn off ambition for good and a woman hanging from the top of the corporate ladder find common ground in the unpredictable territory called the heart, where the word proposal takes on a very different meaning?

A MUST BUY

I love all of Jennifer Crusie's books, but this one has to be my favorite. The way the characters interact with one another is so cute. I have listened to the book several times now. I thought the narrator was perfect. I cannot imagine reading the book and enjoying it as much as the audio version because of the narrator. A MUST BUY !!!

Pure Fluff!

Sometimes you need pure fluff, and this is one of those stories. The ending was predictable, the journey was carefully crafted to keep it interesting. Very nice read, loveable characters. Except Valerie. LOL

Narration ruined it

I love the story. It's what you expect from a Jennifer Cruise story -- strong heroine, funny mishaps, normal bodies are treated well, etc -- and it's a fun romp.

The narration, on the other hand, is terrible. The men sound terrible. The best friend sounds like a prepubescent boy. The best voice is Valerie, one of the antagonists. The narrator should have given Kate that voice.

I think narrators of romance books need to audition. If they can't produce sexy voices for the men AND the women, then they shouldn't be hired to do the narration. The narrator of "Bet Me" would have been much better.

Sweet, but a little lacking

“Kate suddenly felt the need to get far away from Valerie, as if she had something contagious she might catch, like maybe ruthless ambition and a total lack of humanity.”
This was nice and all, and fun even if wasn’t laugh out loud funny. Perhaps it was the ratio of love story versus time spent talking about relationships. Kate doesn’t just spend time thinking about her compatible dream guy, she also evaluates what kind of guys are good matches for all the ladies around her.

Then the story double downs on relationship talk by having Jake and Will constantly talk about the pros and cons of marriage. Yeah, yeah, I know. The title of the book is Manhunting. So, I shouldn’t complain too much about the, you know, manhunting. I just thought it would be more man-hunting than man-talking.

Minor gripe aside, there is fun man-hunting, with Kate charging into a series of disastrous meet cutes with “successful” men. It was a zippy, light hearted story. Maybe too zippy as hijinks are blink and you’ll miss it. Whether it’s her walking in her birthday suit or a date- catastrophe, the story shoots by plot points in 1-2 sentences. Even the get togethers are pretty quick (not cozy, but not much more than vague details). Fine as a sale purchase, but I’m not sure I’ll listen to this again.

Another great one from Crusie

While there isn't alot of suspense in Manhunting, it is a good story well told. It is not as gut wrenchingly funny as some of her other books, it is very sweet. A nice romance.

One of my favorites

This one has such a funny story. It is my go to story when I'm trying to keep from overspending on Audible.com. It has saved me some money because I never tire of this story.

Enjoyed it tremendously! it is my go to book when I need a laugh

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve listen to this book. And I still laugh every time. It’s such a cute story. Jake is my favorite male character for romcoms.
