The third book in the series tells the story of the vampire Zsadist, a former blood slave with a violent past. When he meets Bella, Zsadist thinks her human love could be his path to salvation. Then Bella is kidnapped, and Zsadist will stop at nothing to get her back.
Listen to another Black Dagger Brotherhood chiller.

"This genre-bending third novel in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series...is a perfect fit for those who like fast-paced urban fantasy rich in both fury and poignancy." (Booklist)
Another intense story waiting to draw you into their world
Jim Frangione's voice and performance is a good match for the depth of this story.
It was hard to unplug and return to my everyday life.
I am relieved there are so many books in this series!
These books are enjoyable but I was worried that by book 3 the theme would start to repeat. I was happily surprised by this book and really liked where the author is taking these characters.
The whole series is great to listen to, very entertaining. Very easy yo be sept away in the story. :)
The whole story!
His voice is wonderful
If you havent read this you are missing out!!!!
I would listen to this book again because I am sure there was something I missed.

Maybe, and that's saying something for me. I'm a voracious reader, but I very rarely re-read books, regardless of format. In over 30 years, the only books I've ever read more than once are "The Hobbit" and "LOTR" by Tolkein, "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte and "A Discovery of Witches" and "Shadow of Night" by Deborah Harkness (and I only re-read these last two for the sake of a book club discussion.) The character of Zhadist is what might lead me to re-read "Lover Awakened". He's very unique, and his story is one of absolute ruin to absolute redemption.
(( So sorry I mixed up my reviews)) Zsadist is one of my favorite characters and I just loved the way the story was written. JR has become one of my favorite authors
I can't compare it. She is an author who can write stories that connect but are not copies of the others. And that is a great in my book!
How Bella's love was able t save Zsadist from himself.
Before I was even finished with this book I was buying the 4th in series! I cant get enough of the is story! Thank goodness there is 10 books I don't know what I will do when it ends!
BEST BOOK EVER
Every moment we got to see into the past was great
He could use a lil bit more emotion and a few slang lessons!!!!!!!! He is just very flat sometimes! But the story is what keeps me listening!
Yes, i teared up a few times! I just love...love
I pray she keeps up the good work!
hot crafty goodness
The depth of pain the leads have to overcome makes for a conflicted yet tender storyline.
Zsadist is my favorite brother...definately the character that has the most growth in the series and the most depth.
It was unremarkable, bland even. The Brothers do not have individual voices, even Butch who has a Boston accent, was read in the same tone as Wrath (also suppose to have an accent.) There is such a richness in dialogue, snappy sarcasm and smart ass one-liners, contrasted with sincere, heartfelt depth that the practically monotone reading was just horrible. If you can READ this book, don't listen to it. The AUDIO is a WASTE of an incredible story. I would avoid all books read by this performer, at all costs.
A better narrator would have sent this over the top. And less time spent with the Lessers, I always just skipped over those parts as I read. They really did not add much depth or more conflict to the story.
