Publisher's summary

In her sensational Breathless Trilogy, number-one New York Times best-selling author Maya Banks tested the boundaries of desire. In her Surrender trilogy, there’s only one thing left to do: cross them. And never have the consequences of erotic exploration been so irresistibly inviting, so shockingly intimate, and so totally unexpected....

Josslyn found perfection once, and she knows she’ll never find it again. Now widowed, she seeks the one thing her beloved husband couldn’t give her: dominance. Lonely, searching for an outlet for her grief and wanting only a brief taste of the perfection she once enjoyed, she seeks what she’s looking for at an exclusive club that caters to people indulging in their most hedonistic fantasies. She never imagined that what she’d find would be the one man who’s long been a source of comfort - and secret longing. Her husband’s best friend.

Dash has lived in an untenable position for years: in love with his best friend’s wife but unwilling to act on that attraction. He’d never betray his best friend. And so he’s waited in the wings, offering Joss unconditional support and comfort as she works past her grief, hoping for the day when he can offer her more.

When he finds her in a club devoted to the darker edges of desire, he’s furious because he thinks she has no idea what she’s getting herself into. Until she explains in detail what it is she wants. What she needs. As realization sets in, he is gripped by fierce, unwavering determination. If she wants dominance, he is the only man who will introduce her to that world. He is the only man who will touch her, cherish her...love her. And the only man she’ll ever submit to.

Hmmmm

I've been a fan of Maya Banks for a while now. This is my first audio book I've gotten by her. I'm on chapter 2 and honestly the reader is really hard to listen to. I'm not sure I will be able to finish the book.

So Hot!!

Thank you Maya, another hot one as always! This is a sweet/hot story. I could have gone another few hours with this story but am excited for the next two books. I like that the couple is mostly sweet and has lots of good sex moments, good ending. We get to know the people who will be in the next two books. There are a few highs and lows, sadness and joy.

So with that said, I have to admit that the narrator did not do justice to this book. I can see her doing a historical book, but this one it doesn't really work. That doesn't take away too much from the good story.

If you are a true Maya fan this will be another good one for your collection. Not as deep as some but a good one.

disappointing

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Good plot and characters

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alix Dale?

There are a lot of repeat sentances and to many paragraphs say basically the same thing. The characters are strong and have great personalities. There is a good build up and back story and it was easy to get to know the characters

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Her voice is nasally and whinny. She emphasizes in the wrong places and she tries to make her voice portray passion but it's constant instead of only when there is actually passion. It's often hard to tell which character is speaking. This is the only trilogy I'll listen to that's narrated by this person.

Any additional comments?

I love Maya Banks but this book repeated to much stuff.

The whiny narrator ruins this for me

Would you consider the audio edition of Letting Go to be better than the print version?

No. The narrator has a whiny, irritating voice. It pretty much ruined the story for me.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alix Dale?

Grace Grant

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Only that I really did not like the narrator.

Needs some cheese to go with the whine!!

Maya Banks is usually a good writer however in this story, her characters spent way too much time whining over another character who was already dead when the story started. It seemed as though she felt the need to create a heavy atmosphere of guilt in her two main characters in order to make the premise of the story viable. It was almost enough to make me speed up the narration. Hopefully not all of her stories in this series will be so awfully angst-ridden. The narrator did an excellent job of conveying every bit of angst Ms. Banks wrote.

Good story; bad narrator

Would you try another book from Maya Banks and/or Alix Dale?

Another hit from Maya Banks. Avoid Alix Dale - bad male voices.

What did you like best about this story?

Good character development

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alix Dale?

Oh Lord - just about anyone!!! Female is a good choice, but her male voices are just awful.

great read!

Did not like the narrator's voice at all! She tried too hard and it made everyone of the characters sound horrible!

Frustrating

I like Maya Banks books, especially the KGI series. I enjoyed the reappearance of characters from other series. What I didn’t like was the receptiveness of the character’s dialogue. The narrator’s voice was great as the women, but not the men. Dash was so breathy it was annoying and others twangy accents were just a bit much. I hate to harshly criticize someone’s hard work and it’s only my opinion. I still plan to listen and enjoy the next two books in the series.
