MISERABLE HEROINE, SLOW STORY

I liked nothing about this book...ESPECIALLY the selfish and judgmental heroine. She constantly gives herself over to her inner trashy side, all the while turning her back on and thumbing her nose at her slightly seedy family and past. She did not deserve the hero and I have no idea why he even wanted her--besides their energetic monkey sex. Also, this book moved at a snail's pace with WAY too much of the heroine's inner pondering and the narrator was as annoying as the heroine she portrayed. Total waste of time and money.

Trite and Predictable

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This story was really bad. I "read" a LOT and enjoy all different kinds of books. The author seemed like she was trying to have a 50 Shades of Gray type graphic quality with a lead character who was not only predictable but someone a person can't even make themselves root for. I actually wanted the story to end badly for the "heroine".

As for the graphic sex scenes, they were so contrived that I began fast forwarding through them.

Trite and Predicable

I hated this book, and if I hadn't spent money on it and needed something to entertain me while driving, I would have stopped reading it after the first couple of chapters. The ending was so predictable, even for a romance. The main character was an idiot; I just wanted to slap her. The whole story was completely unbelievable. I shouldn't have wasted my time along with my money. The reader was good, however.

Smutty

Ummm...what to say? Smutty and not much of a plot. I kept saying in my head "this girl really needs to go to counseling."

Horrible narrating, too many soft porn scenes

I tried out this audiobook because it was recommended based on my previous purchases of Kyra Davis' audiobooks. I was sorely mistaken! The narrator seems to read each sentence with contempt. The way that she emphasizes the last word in the sentence is really annoying. The author also includes a lot of extended, detailed soft porn scenes, including almost the entire first chapter. I don't mind short sex scenes, but this was way too much for me. It also seemed to have the setup of a porn movie, a bad girl who dresses very conservatively and secretly yearns for bad boys. The plot develops more later in the story, but I found myself irritated with the main character's obtuseness for most of the story. Don't bother with this one! If you're looking for interesting, funny, suspenseful chick lit, check out Kyra Davis' mystery books instead.
