Publisher's summary

Some marriages last a week, a month, or a year. Others last a lifetime. Mine ends on my wedding night, 10 hours after the exchange of rings.

Our marriage vows shatter when Dustin Cardwell, the man I saved myself for, looks me in the eye and tells me I failed between the sheets.

Our marriage ends before the ink dries, before the scent of my bouquet fades, before the candles in our honeymoon suite burn out.

Three months later, I'm divorced and working as a massage therapist on the LaClaire Cruise Ship, headed for the Caribbean. I'm desperate to get away, to lick my wounds in private. I'm not looking to be another man's disappointment.

Until Bryant LaClaire invades my space and makes my panties melt. The moment our eyes meet, he makes it clear I'm his girl of the moment.

Drawing me in with his charm and good looks, he promises to repair my sexual self-esteem while satisfying his own needs. A few LaClaire nights is all he can give. Nothing more, nothing less. It's an offer my body can't resist.

But when my heart lures me into the heart and world of a man who carries a devastating secret, I know I'm in danger of returning home with more pain than I'd left with.

LaClaire Nights is a steamy full-length, standalone novel with a happy ending.

Warning: Due to sexual situations and adult content, this audiobook is not intended for listeners under the age of 18.

🛳 Run From Hometown Rumors To an Adventure! 🛳

LaClaire nights begins with Grace, a twenty-something virgin, preparing for her wedding night. The continual references to her virginity and how it was taken were a bit repetitious/not necessary to move the forward. Grace's fiancé/husband was a Class-A jerk. This established in the 1st chapter (several times.)

To escape hometown humiliation, Grace signs up as a massage therapist for a cruise line. This gives her a chance to see some of the world as well as taking her far from the gossip at home.

Here are things that maybe wonder if the author, Dori Lavelle, has been anywhere near the employees quarters on a cruise ship. 1. The description of Grace's quarters. I can guarantee that none of the rooms for crew have a porthole much less the balcony. 2. The employees food-service is not served in a manner/location comparable to anything more than a break room, if that. 3.,The crew on almost any cruise line MAY get to disembark only occasionally, when their one day off coordinates with the scheduled port of call. It is more likely that the crew takes the occasion to get caught up on much-needed sleep and or menial chores like laundry. HOWEVER, perhaps all of this is moot when you are holding the interest of the captain/owner of said cruise line.

Though it grated on me, I decided to overlook all that (previous paragraph)– truly just details and not important to the story line – and focus on the story (inaccuracies aside) which was a different/unique twist on the contemporary theme of billionaire regular girl. I enjoyed it quite a bit and I am glad that *I was given the opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for my unbiased review.*I choose to give the story 4 stars.

Tracy Marks is the talented voice performer of LaClaire Nights. Marks is a rare voice actor, in that she can effortlessly perform characters of the same sex AND able to perform characters of the opposite sex in a believable and non distracting way. 4 solid stars

Overall, this is a really good book. 4 stars

It was ok

I would have like the story better if the same lines weren't repeated so often in different pov. I found the lead female character to be whiny but that's just my opinion. The overall story wasn't to bad. Good for a listen when on sale. The narration was good.

ENTERTAINING, WITH A GREAT NARRATOR

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

Interesting enough premise; a one day marriage after the groom is disappointed in the de-flowering of Grace, his bride. I found myself ashamed of Grace. Not because she was scorned, but because she didn’t have the cahoots to admit what happened and allowed her ex to spread lies. So it’s little wonder that she found a job on the maiden voyage of a cruise ship that took her away from everyone who knew her. She pondered her wedding night, made new friends, and lusted after a hot guy she only knew as Bryant. With all that, her confidence grows and the true Grace begins to emerge.

The hot guy, Bryant LaClaire, owned the cruise ship. It was his habit to board the maiden voyages and choose one lady as his playmate until the first port of call. He refused any serious relationships as a self-imposed punishment for the guilt he carried over his twin brother. When he first spotted Grace in the gym he was quick to decide that she would be his for this trip. Although he recognized that she would be a challenge, he was confident in his abilities. But Grace is more than he expected.

I enjoyed the listen even though there were parts of the story that I felt were too unrealistic. Why would Grace not tell a single soul how Dustin treated her (didn’t she have a BFF). If she had zero experience, how could she think for even a minute it was her fault? I didn’t see any super power coming from Grace to justify Bryant falling so fast. And his initial character was at odds to the type of sacrifice he was making for his brother. Stuff like that.

Tracy Marks was wonderful, It’s a special talent for a female to narrate several male parts convincingly and she has that talent.

LaClaire Nights, hot on the high seas

What did you love best about LaClaire Nights?

The progression of Grace and Bryant's relationship. They were both vulnerable and had their reasons not to get involved too deeply.

What was one of the most memorable moments of LaClaire Nights?

Grace and Bryant's first meeting in the gym. Their thoughts on each other and about themselves evolve from that day and progress into something neither of them expect.

Which scene was your favorite?

Bryant at the flower shop. Watching Grace from across the street.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Masseuse gets a Happy Ending!

Any additional comments?

It took some time to get used to the narration, but towards the middle she gets better. She does well with accents and differentiating between characters, however, she sometimes reads fast and clipped.

Rebounding

This was a good listen. Its always hard after a break up to bounce back.

But to bounce back and get the man in the end is the best

Well Done!

Dori Lavelle is a new author to me, while I have listened to many performances of Tracy Marks. I love how Ms. Marks can change her voice so people can hear the various characters. This book had some very special moments showing great chemistry and goodness. There was also karma to Dustin. Some of the characters I really liked and others were in a class of their own. This book is a standalone listen and has a happy ending. The story was written in a way that the brothers could receive their own books as standalone as well. I will definitely look for more books by the author and narrator in the future. Sorry my review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it and it does not contain spoilers. I was provided with this review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily written this review.

The Perfect Mix

This book was the perfect length. The story was good, held my attention and kept moving along. There was just the right amount of drama, romance and issues between Bryant and Grace. In my past experience sometimes books like this can drag on in the middle with not much at all happening as the story kind of stalls for a while. Not in this book. The story was interesting, there wasn’t an over exaggerated amount of drama between the main characters and the story was believable and relatable. I really liked the chemistry between Bryant and Grace, it seemed genuine and both characters seemed mostly normal and down to earth. This book is worth listening to. I finished it in a day and a half and didn’t switch between books like I often do when stories drag on. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a story that has just the right mix of everything; romance, some drama, hot sex and a story of a budding new relationship.

The Love Boat

Most certainly wasn`t a stellar start to a story (horrible ex-husband) but it did get much better. Bryant may not have been the ideal rebound man (at least he was honest) it’s amazing how people acted during times of struggle in their life's. We become people even we don`t recognise at times, thankfully Bryant is one of the good guys.
Enjoyable narrative by Tracy Marks, looking forward to see if the rest of the brothers have in store. Derrick I believe is next in the series.

Great little romance!

Omg! This book started off by making me cuss the male species and the atrocity that is which humans at time. I was furious and my heart went out to the female character. I know, I know, it is fictional, but who doesn't get emotionally involved in the books they read?

Thankfully, it got better. I really liked this book! It gave the good feelings that all women need. It's okay to be yourself, to find your own skin, and to love life and live it to the fullest. And that some men are just douches. haha.

The narration was also great on this one!
