When a 15-year-old girl is abducted by vampires, it’s up to U.S. Marshal Anita Blake to find her. And when she does, she’s faced with something she’s never seen before: a terrifyingly ordinary group of people - kids, grandparents, soccer moms - all recently turned and willing to die to avoid serving a master. And where there’s one martyr, there will be more.…
But even vampires have monsters that they’re afraid of. And Anita is one of them.…

I am an Anita Blake fan. I enjoyed it, the reader was GREAT
Love the background sounds,
Gives it more life and a better idea than just reading it
NO I WILL TRY HER NEXT BOOK AND HOPE IT WILL BE LESS PORN AND MORE STORY LIKE THE BEGINING OF THIS SERIES
remove the background mood music. I am hearing impaired and it made it very difficult to hear the narrator. I can hear voices with ear covering headphones, but the added music made it very difficult to hear clear enough.
solid, clear voiced (when not competing with music)
I sincerely hope that this is not the new trend in audiobooks. If it is, it needs to be an option and not the only version available.
Love to read!
I have really enjoyed the Anita Blake series, but find myself getting a little bored with it. This book was pretty typical for the series, with nothing really new. It wasn't bad or boring, just nothing exceptional. If you have never read a book from this series, you really need to start with book 1 or one of the earlier books.
Sylvia & Al Moody
To some I would. I would be embarrassed to recommend it to others.
The first half of the book relates to the style of the first 5 book in the series. No metaphysical sex. The second half regresses to her more current style.
She is great! No negatives.
I get bored with Hamilton's sex scenes and up the speed of the playback through them. The detailed description is not needed for the story and is repetitive.
I like fiction(Rick Riordan),sci-fi(Orson S. Card), and vampires and werewolfs(LK Hamilton) to name a few.
I've physically read every book up till this book and the book prior and while I honestly enjoyed the narrators depiction of Anita in the last book while she was away from home now that she is home with her menagerie of men...i want to throttle her(and not in a sexy rough way). She audibly rapes the listeners ears for over half the male cast(and all you long time readers know that the MALE cast has grown significantly). I particularly cringe like it's nails on a chalkboard every time she tries to use "her" Micah voice. She gave him this bad BAAAAAAD attempt at a woman trying to do a stereotypical Scottish accent and it pulled me out of the book like a high speed car impact every time he came into a scene. Love the series and if she's the narrator for the next one then I'm just going to go back to the paper version if I'm going to be able to enjoy it without pain again.
The best long term supernatural lover/killer is back and this time the threat is too close to home...it's bad narration!
The story and Anita Blake cool.
Anita Blake she kicks butt and a strong woman. She is a great U.S. marshal.
This was a good adventure where we had some good Vampire hunting action and not over kill on the Naughty stuff I would have like more Vampire politics but it was a good read
Thrilling! Captivating! Sexy!!!
YES! I LIVE FOR THE ANIT BLAKE SERIES. THIS IS THE ONLY SERIES THAT I HAVE READ OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I CHECK LAURELL K. HAMILTON WEBSITE PERIODICALLY TO SEE IF SHE HAS WRITTEN ANYTHING NEW.
SHE COUKLD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE BETTER AT THE VOICES. SHE'S NOT THE SAME PERSON WHO NARRATED THE NOVELS IN THE SERIES, BUT OTHER THAN THAT SHE WAS VERY ENTHUSIASTIC AND BELIEVEABLE.
YES!!! BUT I HAVE THREE LITTLE KIDS SO I GET THE MOST READING DONE AT NIGHT BUT I LISTEN TO IT EVERYWHERE IN THE CAR, AT WORK, IN THE TUB, ANYWHERE I CAN READ I DO.
LOVE IT. LOVE IT. LOVE IT.!!!!!!
I would recommend this audio book to a friend. It has a very good story and fit the bill for adventure for Anita Blake lovers. There were three very good Marshall Blake jobs during this book and some good sex scenes as well.
Asher acting like a fool and getting kicked out. It is about time. He was a liability to the Kiss.
Kimberly brings the characters to life with her voices. Now that I am hooked on the series just by the sound of her voice I know who is talking with all of the main players. She is the voice of Anita Blake, plus she does French speaking characters so well.
Audio Book fans are loyal to good readers. If the Author switches out the reader of a series with out a good reason (Like: death, sickness, or was not available) it could affect the review of the book.
When searching for new books I will sometimes pick an unread author if the reader is a name I know and like.
The thought that Anita could lose Nathaniel, Sin, Death and Nick all at once brought tears to my eyes.
This 21 book was worth waiting for. I read it all in one day. Now I will have to wait a year for another one. Hopefully Laurell K. Hamilton has a Merry Gentry book coming out soon.
