Enchanted by a powerful spell, Highland laird Drustan MacKeltar slumbered for nearly five centuries hidden deep in a cave, until an unlikely savior awakened him. The enticing lass who dressed and spoke like no woman he'd ever known was from his distant future, where crumbled ruins were all that remained of his vanished world.
Drustan knew he had to return to his own century if he was to save his people from a terrible fate. And he needed the bewitching woman by his side.
A woman changed forever in his arms....
Gwen Cassidy had come to Scotland to shake up her humdrum life and, just maybe, meet a man. How could she have known that a tumble down a Highland ravine would send her plunging into an underground cavern - to land atop the most devastatingly seductive man she'd ever seen? Or that once he'd kissed her, he wouldn't let her go?
Bound to Drustan by a passion stronger than time, Gwen is swept back to 16th-century Scotland, where a treacherous enemy plots against them...and where a warrior with the power to change history will defy time itself for the woman he loves.
Great Scot! Don't miss our other titles in the Highlander series.

"Rife with unexpected plot twists, Druid lore and sparkling humor....There's much that's fun here, both in characters and situations....Moning's snappy prose, quick wit and charismatic characters will enchant." (Publishers Weekly)
Love dogs, reading and listening to audible books too
I have not hear the whole serie but this one is one of the best!!!!
Moning has crafted an entertaining and engaging story with plenty of sexual tension between the main characters.
I am a middle aged woman with an open mind and many interests, my reading/listening moods change like my teen-age daughter changes her clothes.
I really like a love story with a plot, a good story line and the ability to feel like I am right there in the story. So far, this is my favorite of the Highlanders series by Karen Marie Moning.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who would enjoy romance that has a happy ending and a generous helping of humor!
This book reminds me of A Knight in Shinning Armour by Jude Deveraux
All the books in this series. He is so good that I forget it is one person reading all the parts.
I found myself laughing out loud throughout the book. The sad parts made me hold my breath just waiting to find out what would happen next. the story is filled with a plethora of emotions.
I have listened to books 1 - 4 of the series and this is, by far my, favorite! It is a deliciously perfect blend of love, romance, humor, mystery and sensuality. Loved the story and the performance. There was something to like about all the characters, and I even felt really sorry for the "villain"! This story deserves a series all of its own!
This was my first Karen Marie Moning novel and the first narrated by Phil Gigante. The story was very engaging and moved along at a quick pace. I read some of the reviews before purchasing the book and do not agree with the reviewers who did not like the narrator. Some said he doesn't do women's voices well. I do agree their different but still distinquishable from other female voices in the story. And I'm not sure it would even been notice but for reading that review first. I think the narrator does a fine job which definitely adds to overall enjoyment of the story. I liked it so much that I've purchased the other books in the Highlander series.
Reading is a must-have ESCAPE...
Within the first several chapters of the book, the reader will be brought to stitches. Time travel is most definitely a delicate element to weave into any story, but Moning does an incredible job of bridging centuries past and present. Every time the reader thinks they can anticipate where the story is going, it twists and turns into a whole other direction. All the while still, Moning manages to use modern romantic chemistry to draw us into the dynamic between Gwen & Drusdan.
So incredibly entertaining. Gigante does an excellent job narrating. Won't disappoint. Fabulous story worthy of a blockbuster movie!
From beginning to end this listen had just the right amount of twist and turns, passion, mystery, and levity. oh how I loved this one.
To pick out one part would be impossible. From beginning to end this book was wonderful.
The whole thing.
I really got agrevated when I was interrupted from listening. I mean really agrevated. I will be listening to this one more times. Probably several.
Drustan, this narrator has a fantastic voice and while I found the female character a little bit annoying the over all narration was great and I just loved the males voice.
Yes, I kept my ear buds in while working all day.
I've been just wanting to listen to light reads lately and this sounded fun. It was fun! The story is interesting, and a little different then others.
Sexy with a great story. One of the firsts book I have ever listened to that made my laugh, hot and cry at different parts. Loved every minute of it and hope she continues to write this more!
Absolutely. So far, it has been the best book in the series. The emotional ups and downs for Gwen were felt within each page.
When Gwen was telling Drustin about their last night together and the romantic words she repeated to him actually married them.
With audiobooks, the narrator can make it or break it. I loved Phil Gigante narrating the Fever series and was so glad to see that he narrating this one. I found it sweet that Adam in this series sounded like V'lane in the Fever series. It brought a smile to my face that the two faes sounded similar.
Romance that transcends five centuries without losing anything in translation.
I can't wait to start the next one. It looks like there are only a few more in this series and then I will have to look for another one.
