Love the story. The web of deceit spun by Jesse Belle had no end. Her logic as justification for her actions was mind-boggling. Her need for total control ... well listen to the story.
There's no accounting for taste, they say. This book was not a good listen for me. I regretted using one of my precious credits. The main character was without depth or nuance throughout most of the story. When the main character is the antagonist, it helps if the reader can find some redeming quality to establish affinity. This did not happen for me.
One reviewer noted that the story was unpredictable. I found the opposite to be true. In addition, suspension of unbelief didn't happen for me until perhaps the very end. This story was not one of my favorites and I would not recommend it.
The audio preview sucked me into what turned out to be a let down.. But as they say, "there is no accounting for taste." After all, I don't like popcorn either and that makes me weird among womankind, LOL!
This author did a good job with character development and story telling. The narrator was a good fit with with book. As you listen, you become engrossed in the main character's behaviors and her way of thinking. I found myself laughing at times, feeling bad for her when her bad behaviors are revealed, and then feeling hurt and sad for her when it is finally over. This is an excellent read. I highly recommend this book!
