Publisher's summary

BOOK ONE OF THE GALLAGHERS OF ARDMORE TRILOGY

In Gallagher’s Pub, where the fire is burning low and the pints are waiting, #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts has a story to tell...

Determined to reevaluate her life, Jude Murray flees America to take refuge in Faerie Hill Cottage, immersing herself in the study of Irish folklore and discovering hope for the future of the magical past.

Finally back home in Ireland after years of traveling, Aidan Gallagher possesses an uncommon understanding of his country’s haunting myths. Although he’s devoted to managing the family pub, a hint of wildness still glints in his eyes - and in Jude, he sees a woman who can both soothe his heart and stir his blood. And he begins to share the legends of the land with her - while they create a passionate history of their own.

Thoroughly Enjoyed

I've read the hard copy and liked it. This audible 'edition' is wonderful. The Irish accents really make the listening. The 'ghostly' touch to the voice of Carrick is a nice touch too.

Thoroughly enjoyed the listening experience. As another reviewer mentioned, it was a nice escape from reality.

Currently listening to the next book in the trilogy and enjoying it just as much.

Overall enjoyed it, but the one 5hing that bothered me was when Jude was "writing in her journal " it sounded like the Performance was being recorded in a public bathroom...

ugh the narrator again

Another great book with a terrible narrator, for I'm assuming, a woman in her late twenties early thirties. The narrator sounds like an extremely uptight way too precise way to proper and way way too mature woman for the character.

Irish Lore

Pretty good story of an American woman needing a change so she travels to a place in Ireland that her granny always talked about. She stays in a cottage of her late cousin Maud lived her life in.Met the locals, one in particular that caught her attention and caught his.The characters in the story were very colorful and fun.The legends were nice to have included in the story as well. The narrator did good with her Irish accent except with the male voices and when she turned over to speak American, her dialogue was stilted. So would be better off reading in my opinion. Also there was some information left off like, what was the connection between the fairy guy and Aiden??Also what happened with Jude’s book deal.Maybe it’ll be explained in the other books in the trilogy.

I'm biased! lol

This was the first novel I ever received. I have bought the collection several times and since it's my favorite, I bought the Audible version. I absolutley love the story and the characters. Patricia does a good job with the voices. Some are a little harder to distinguish, but most are pretty good. I will always recommend this series.

story is great, narration- not so much

I went into this audiobook a little weary because of all the negative reviews about the narrator but have more patience than most when it comes down to it.

That said, the narration is absolutely terrible. Tho the reader has great voices and enthusiasm, her accents are way off the mark and even accidentally gives an irish accent to the american and vis a vis. She also over-enunciates which makes her words sound clipped at times and slow at others.

Despite all that, I thought this was a wonderful story filled with passion, romance, a little heartbreak, and a bit of the fantastical.
