Publisher's summary

Since time began, there have been Nightwalkers - the races of the night who live in the shadows of the moonlight. Love with humans is absolutely forbidden, and one man makes certain to uphold this ancient law: Jacob, the Enforcer.

For 700 years, he has resisted temptation. But not tonight... Jacob knows the excuses his people give when the madness overtakes them and they fall prey to their lust for humans. He's heard every one and still brought the trespassers to justice. Immune to forbidden desires, uncontrollable hungers, or the curse of the moon, his control is total... until the moment he sees Isabella on a shadowy New York City street. Saving her life wasn't in his plans. Nor were the overwhelming feelings she arouses in him. But the moment he holds her in his arms and feels the soft explosion of her body against his, everything changes. Their attraction is undeniable, volatile, and completely against the law. Suddenly everything Jacob has ever believed is inflamed by the heat of desire. Bring on the night.

Jacquelyn Frank does it again!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommended this audiobook to anyone. First because the story is solid. It has been my experience that the first book in a series is a little slow in developing a plot line, not so with Jacob. It's fast paced and quickly weaves a complex plot line. Second because Xe Sands does an awesome job narrating.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved that the main character Jacob had a "painful" moral struggle between what he thinks he knows to be true and what he feels in his heart. It really makes the story so much more personal.

What does Xe Sands bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Xe Sands is by far the best narrator I have heard to date. Her performance is magical.

Can't get any better than this!!!!!

WOW!! I am so pleased that one of my favorite authors is now on Audible. Jacquelyn Frank has been a favorite of mine since I first READ this book back in 2006. The Nightwalker Series is one of the best out there and then when you mix it with the incredible voice talent of Xe Sands,well....it is just fantastic. Jacquelyn is such an awesome writer who brings life to her characters and Xe just gives them a voice. She has to be one of the most talented voices today. I just can't get over the perfect fit this is with Jacquelyn and Xe. I can't wait for the rest of the series!!!

Wonderful Narration

Any additional comments?

I will admit that I started listening to the book because I was looking for other works narrated by Xe Sands. I am happy to say that the book exceeded my expectations and I look forward to the rest of the series.

Wonderful!

I loved the book so much that I wrote the narrator and told her what an excellent job she did protraying the characters. I know there is more out there to read in this series, and am eagerly anticipating it.

Loved it!

If you could sum up Jacob in three words, what would they be?

Honerable, committed and sexy.

What did you like best about this story?

The action and romance scenes are very detailed and colorful. It gives the imagination something to play with.

What about Xe Sands’s performance did you like?

She gave the characters personality. She made me want to look for other books that she has narrated.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I'm not going to spoil it but there is a part where I did laugh when the main female character forgot something very important. I laughed right along with the other characters :)

Any additional comments?

I'm new to paranormal romance and just happened to come accorss this series. I liked it very much. There were great action scenes and "romantic" scenes. I was hooked after this book

great ideas, poor follow through

What was most disappointing about Jacquelyn Frank’s story?

character development was pathetic, main character came off whiney

Did Xe Sands do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

for the calmer, more intimate scenes she was good. However, For the more battle rich scenes she sounded excatly the same. No emphasis on drama

Could you see Jacob being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

no

Supernatural Light Done Right

If you can accept that art (books, movies, comics) are a reflection of society, you can handle the humanization of Demons. Couch Potatoes portrayed as Zombies; the "Me" generation portrayed as Vampires; and now Demons. Extrapolate from there... Now that we're past that hurdle, YES, I can recommend this story! The characters, their relationship, the action are just enough- not too much. There's even a HEA feel to the ending. The writing & editing are well done & have an easy flow. It is in no way overwrought, like about 3 other authors I will politely not name. The narration is well done in the audio version.
