Evie doesn't open her eyes so she can't see him, but she can smell him. He thickens the air she breathes, choking her with his scent... his aroma. She shivers. She has to resist. If she's not strong, then she will be relegated to the same fate as this predator whose sickness infects her even now. But now, she craves him and he knows that; he has been counting on her need to end the gnawing pain. How he would savor her surrender. She's alive, but how much longer will it take until she begs him not to be?

Haven't read any of Amy Bartol's but I plan to listen to the rest of the series. This one was great. Emily Woo Zeller, where did you come from and please narrate more books! She is the voice. I enjoyed your narration. Some say this is like Twilight Series, yes, it is something alike if you want to look at it that way. I have to say, there are twist and turns that are different. Just listen to the book and you will see. I had a hard time putting it down to get some things done. Just wanted to know what would happen next.
I just have to say that you get a little tired of the main character seeming weak and depressed. But I had to keep remind myself that shes only 18. Russell's voice is the one I am most disappointed in because I am country and I don't feel like she does a good job at his voice, but I guess it's hard. Still good story. I've listened to all the books. My favorite books series yet.
I have 3 kids that occupy all the TV's in the house...enough said...addicted to audiobook ....shhhh don't tell my husband ;-)
Not disappointed one bit I'm happy to announce the author kept up the paranormal mystery and the awesome attraction triangle. Ms. Evie turns out to be a delicious cat nip for all other paranormal creatures and its interesting. I love this series, I just wish the author would have upped the ante on the hot scenes. It is still an awesome series and I am on to book 3! Of course it is very credit worthy.
The story is better than the first. More interesting.
Maybe the Immortal's series in some way... perhaps because the two series involved something of past lives and secrets. But it's difficult to compare, each author has a style, and each story has its own characteristics. but I think we can do this generally comparison.
I am truly enjoying this series. I am sure I will dive right in to the next one. My only regret is that it is not a finished series and once I complete the next two books, I will have to do the waiting game. I like that even though this is a series, each book so far has had an ending that is not a cliffhanger. I admire an author who is confident enough in her series that she does not stop practically mid-sentence to end the book nearly forcing you to do the next book if you are into the characters. I highly recommend the use of a credit ( or 2 or 3 or 4 ) for these. Great narrator and again I give full stars--my second time, the first being the beginning book of the series. I do a ton of books and I admit to my addiction for these.
This series is my favorite among all the audiobooks I have listened to.
The unpredictability of the characters and the story. I was constantly wondering what was coming next.
Brennus - I KNOW IKNOW - but I am smitten with the way Emily performed this particular villain.
Nothing extreme but there was gasping and gnashing of teeth a few times and certainly a few laughs and a multiple sighs of relief.

Home for the Holidays
first half/third of this book was a bit too slow for my taste but then it picked up nicely after our heroine got herself into another really tense situation . though I thought the first book was a little too "twilght-ish" I like Evie so much better than Bella. More action less angst. Overall good ride.
I've read this series and recently decided to listen through on audio during my commute. Amy never disappoints. I even tweeted her how I had forgotten how sexy Brennus is. Great performance by narrator as well.
Yes I tend to read erotic romance, this had some romance, and soul mates, but Amy bartol keep the reader wanting more. I will look for mor from this author.
She does an excellent job with the voices for all the different characters. She narrates at a steady pace and emotion is injected in her voice. She was able to bring the characters to life, as to be able to allow me to imagine the characters, and smells.
When Evie, was put in the cell, to break her will, no food, little water, her choice was to just die versus give up her soul. She refused to transition into a vampire like creatures Queen. The Kings clans respected her, she could fight.
Leave you wanting more...
